I went and had a look in the "Woman" forum (Akita! Akita! Tumak! Leeana!)

There are people in there saying "boobies" and talking about making a mess in a lady's box  !

Smut! Smut I tell you!

Where will it ever end?

Sam

    Teeth?

Most people can manage teeth. Only the very old, very young or very unfortunate lack them, and in two of those cases people are offered the wonders of prosthetics. The very young just have to show patience.

Please don't think of me as one of your big girl's blouse types, gentlemen.

    I ride fixed.

Oh good grief! Why do we ladies require a 'special' board? I know that the world of cycling as a sport can be a tad stuck in the attitudes of the 1970s, but on the old C+ forum, life was a little more 21st century...
Not sure I like this new forum. Font too small, pathetic pharmacy board, wimmins board, cruddy emoticons...

What I'd like to know is why it's only the MTB forum that has a women's area.

Don't girls ride road bikes then?

I've signed up for Cyclechat instead - there's a woman's section there, which doesn't seem to be subsumed within MTBing...

Of course, if no-one else goes, I'll be twiddling my thumbs over there...

Not only that, but there isn't an equivalent "Men" area to take the p1ss, so we have to take the p1ss all over the place - as if that's a change. Oh, and they don't get the jokes, either.

Oh yeah, how come all the code is switched off, even when it's on in my profile? it's bad enough as it is without all the quote/unquote tags.

Arch - you should join us over in the club...

Girls who ride road bikes are cooler, tougher and by extension sexier than girls who ride MTBs, and as such can hold their own easily with the boys and don't need a separate forum.

*sits back and awaits indignant MTB responses*

    LOL my wrath? :D

Aw... sorry I can be a bit assertive sometimes.

In fact I nearly made the same post as charlotte about there not being a women's section in road...however - it's a legacy from the amalgamation of C+ and Procycling who also didn't have women's sections, you can access the women's section from the front page, not just from within the road tab, so there's nothing to stop us posting from there...and of course there is www.shecycles.com which has all kinds of women rider all posting about different riding styles in the same place.

I figured that the forum people probably have enough on their hands at the moment without raising another 'complaint'. I don't see why we shouldn't be able to get into the women's forum from road though...

I'm still trying to work out why on earth there's a "women's" section at all? Never seemed to bother us on any of the other sites.

I suppose it's easier to organize women only rides, discuss WSD products, make friends that kind of thing. Some people like the supportive women only environment. We are a cycling minority and its nice to know that there are other like minded girls out there. I have met some wicked girls through shecycles.

In general though I tend to avoid those kind of places myself because I'm not keen on big groups of women being the lucky recipient of an all female education until the age of 18! There are still politics between the different cycling types and even within them, just like the men.

The 'oestrogen' comment in the subtext for the forum makes me cringe (sorry). If they are going to keep it they need to subtext one of the race forums along the lines of 'testosterone', and maybe dirt jumping with 'teenage hormonal imbalance' or something...

Well, that's torn it for me. I can't think of a reason to go there except to take the p1ss, so I probably won't bother - it's not enough to sustain my interest. Mostly, I was finding the same across C+ and the other sites generally.

I've browsed there myself a few times in the past, it looks like quite a decent site.
