My Malt 4 cost about £760 but it's probably had about another £150 spent on it... so far.

Orange 5 Pro Hope, so a bit over £2000. Plus a bit for GPS and Hope LEDs. But then it's the first time I've had lots to spend. The rest have been built up over time...

    Commencal supreme 6 second hand = £1500

Commencal supernormal long customisation = ~£1800
I'd give my right hand to be ambi-dextrous

My Ruckus has cost me around the £1500 mark to out together, the comp was £400 +£120 for the discs and £12 for the rims, the other changes on it are bit I had lying about the shed,my M-trax roadie was an old rigid mtb that morphed (about £20 for the shifters bars from a mate)into the road going bike just so I can get out touring every year or two it's good for nipping to the shops on too,I can't justify having a proper roadie as I'd hardly use it.

I've got a 2006 Endruo Expert, got it Autum last year at a discount £2000. spent about £400 on "upgrades" aka replacing stuff I broker, wheels and chainset.

    I've also got a 2007 Norco A-line I paid £2000 for last month.

MMMmmm I don't own a Car, Don't own my own place and have no money in the bank, but I've got a £4500 MTB collection, somethings not right with that.

Luckily Im a bit sponsord so its ok.

Have two mountain bikes that would both set you back about 2 and a half grand and a road bike that would set you back another 1600 ish pounds. Got lots of other mountain bikes hanging around and some nice frames that would be in the hundreds.

You should give me the Cannondale frame and fork!

Mine are difficult to price up as I've just morphed from one to another. I last bought a complete bike about three (four?) years ago when I bought a 2nd-hand Corratec LX Trail for £200 to get me out of my previously all-rigid riding.

The rigid cost me £150 in mint condition about 10-11 years ago and is still going strong as my commuter, cost me next to nothing, owes me nothing, worth about £50 if I tried to sell it! :D

Through the morphing I now also have a Giant VT that I estimate has cost about £700 in the bits I built it up with (mostly good 2nd-hand parts or great bargains!) including recent purchases of new kit including WTB Pure V STL, Phaon forks, Hayes El Caminos, Novatec wheels, Easton seatpost and Hone chainset. The rest is XT and odd stuff like Zyzzx stem, etc. and I suppose that, for the money, I've got a bargain! 8) 8)

I've now put my cast-offs and spares to good use and built up a Kona Kula as my hardtail. LX gearing (XT front), Avid BB MTNs (BB7s by different name), Alex/M475 wheels, Richey bar & stem, Yeti ARC seatpost (nice!), Duke XCs and a Zyzzx chainset (light and v. tough, only just changed middle ring, 3+ years after buying it, 2ND HAND!). That's probably set me back less than £300 (some excellent bargains here!). I do need a new saddle though, so another £20-30 for that to be factored in.

I reckon £1000 for those two is bl00dy good value!

My current bike (Haro Escape hardtail) has cost about £1,100 in total including upgrades

My new bike (Nicolai UFO DS) looks likely to cost about £2,000 once completed (second hand frame cost me £650)

If your bike cost exactly£1200, which group do you put it in? I went for the lower one but now I think I'm doing the myself down as I got a hefty discount.
And, when including upgrades should you subtract the value of the components you remove? For instance, my zaskar urban cost £315 but then I spent £300 on a groupset, £180 on wheels and tyres, £150 on forks, £45 on pedals, £20 on saddle, £20 on stem and £10 on grips. A total of £1040 (woops) but that only leaves frame, seatpost and handlebars from the original price so it's not fair to include the whole £315.
    Am I overthinking this?

More than I care to think, but most of it was bought through the cycle to work scheme over the years so I've saved 000's! :)
