Not a chance I'm going to divulge how much my rig cost, if the missus ever came across this topic she'd give me a proper ass kicking.

Bought my Orange 5 for £1849, but with upgrades it would probably cost ~£2500 to buy new!

Luckily Im a bit sponsord so its ok.

Have two mountain bikes that would both set you back about 2 and a half grand and a road bike that would set you back another 1600 ish pounds. Got lots of other mountain bikes hanging around and some nice frames that would be in the hundreds.

Looks quite an even spread to me. Given all the Hardrock users, I think the mean will come down a little!

    Here goes:

I started with an '04 kona hoss, which cost about £550, then new bars, stem, cranks and forks; probably cost about £300 total, then a Stab frame for £350 and some Jr. T's and wheels for £300, then some '06 66SL's for about £425, then a 2nd hand Devinci Guzzler frame for £300 and finally a chain device and new wheels for £250.

So to get where I am I've spent about £2500, but the build I've got probably cost about £13-1400. The only things left from the Hoss are the brakes, but even they've got larger rotors and new hoses.

More 3k plus riders than I thought lol, but I think they would be attracted to a topic like this! Average seems around the 1200 mark.

there are a lot of DH and FR bikes that are easily over 3k and there are a lot of DH/FR kids from MBUK.

Should I vote for the amount it would cost to buy all the parts at the real price.... or the price I paid :?:

Paul's trying to prove his theory that the average mountain biker has only spent about £400 on their bike.
