  • I had a mini cooper........it was my pride and joy, black with viper stripes and a Top Spec sound system.

I started cycling to work though and the Mini just sat on the drive for weeks on end - i occassionaly used it at the weekend but most of the time it just sat there looking pretty.

Eventually i couldnt stand to see it sat there any more loosing money and not getting used so i sold it and bought an old clunker for emergencies

now im a lot richer, a lot fitter, have a lot more energy ......but god i miss my mini and grimace when i jump in my old clunker.

I was able to get rid of mine 10 years ago but a new job last year means I had to replace it (last year).
I really hate the whole business of owning a car and feel like a complete failure for having given in and gotten one.
Still haven't found any uses for it other than getting to work and back, though other people seem to find loads of uses for it with me driving. How many times have I been told how good it must be to have a car again? Why?

    nhhaaaa.....
I like my motors way too much...
Anyway, with all the best will in the world I ain't gonna tow my 4 kids and two dogs with the bike trailer  Camping holidays would be a nightmare.
Did have no car for a couple of years though, relied on bikes (motor) but it just cost too much in time with public transport if there was more than just me..
it looks a bit steep to me.....

Cars are ace, couldn't live without one

It's just a hill. Get over it.
  • Got a classic BMW M3 prepared for track. Has cost me a small fortune and I don't drive it very often, but when I do - there's nothing else like it on earth  8)

I'm slightly tempted to sell it, but not just yet

This is my 11th year without a car. It's not always been easy, I live close to town and the train station though I work 14 miles away. I'm not anti car, I'll hire a few time a year, sometimes take taxis and get a man with a van to do the odd job for me. It's about choice, it's just a shame most people don't even consider the options.

After I started cycle-commuting I drove my car around twice a year - and that was to give it a run. So it went.

We still have one car in the household, so it's all good.

On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw shimmering light
My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
    There she stood in the doorway;
    I heard the mission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
I thought I heard them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
    Such a lovely face
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year (Any time of year)
    You can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
    'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
    Just to hear them say...

    Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place (Such a lovely place)
    Such a lovely face
They livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise)
    Bring your alibis

    Mirrors on the ceiling,
    The pink champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
    And in the master's chambers,
    They gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
    Running for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
    'Relax,' said the night man,
    'We are programmed to receive.
You can check-out any time you like,
    But you can never leave!'
