    Tubs are possible, but I would put some TUFO tyre sealant in them first, that way small punctures are sealed as you ride. I use tubular clinchers as they roll faster than normal clinchers, nothing in it for weight much though, and the sealant works well. I cut the side a few weeks back and moved the cut to the bottom, placed my finger over the hole for 10 seconds, and the pucture was fixed, rode the remaing 50 odd miles home without having to pump the tyre up.

    I recently got a set of Campag Neutron Ultras. Light and stiff and rather more delicate in appearance than the Mavics. Spoke tensioning (not needed so far, of course) appears to be easy with tyre, tube and tape removed. I am counting on Campag's reputation for general toughness and reliability, so I gave these the edge over Easton and DT.

  • My bikes have various wheels, but have a illogical hankering after a set of heavy Carbone SL Premiums. I can only guess at the swishy aero noise they must make!
