But the public like getting stoned, necking fifteen vodka shots, puking on the floor, falling over, urinating in the street and starting a fight. They like it so much that many of them spend all Friday and Saturday night devoted to that very cause. There's no "victim" as long as they're only playfighting among themselves. Some people might find it antisocial, but it's not doing any harm. Why not legalise it?

If they ARE only playfighting among themselves, then fine. But they often try to pick fights with people who don't want it, which makes them the victim. Besides, someone might slip in the sick and fall over, then they become a victim.

No, you've shown me how you think it's wrong. If I stay within the speed limit, no-one would have used the road who wouldn't have done before, no-one is unable to cross the road that otherwise would be able to, no-one suffers. There is no victim.

But I'm a victim. I'm sat in my lounge having to listen to tw@ts exceedind the speed limit. If they were to drive at or below the speed limit I wouldn't necessarily hear them.

There's more to this than people who happen to be on the road you know.

quote:
Prove that I WOULDN'T qualify for a blue badge. In an interview. Since you used to work on the interview panel for disabled badges you should know the questions pretty well.

Because you don't meet any of the necessary criteria. There you go.

Well you're not a very good interviewer - you can't have been very good at that job, how many genuinely disabled people did you turn away? How many people are hobbling around birmingham for miles trying to find their car because YOU wouldn't listen to them when they applied for a disabled badge?
You haven't even asked me any questions, before you presume the right to declare that I'm not disabled! If I was the boss of the disabled badge scheme interview panel, I'd sack you straight away.

Not wanting to bore everyone else with the procedure, but I think that happened a while ago.

Are you applying for a badge? Then you submit the application form. A doctor's report is often requested. If these documents aren't clear then you'll be asked in for an interview.

So, if you'll just submit me the form we'll take it from there.

    The penny frickin drops!

Someone "might" slip in the sick.

Well, someone "might" step out in front of your speeding car. You "might" lose control of your speeding car. You "might" hit an unseen patch of oil or ice in your speeding car. A little old lady "might" drive through a red light she's missed, into the path of your speeding car. You "might" hit a cyclist in your speeding car.

All of this is going to be easier avoided (shorter braking distance) or easier controlled (better vehicle control) at lesser speeds. So stick to the limit.

quote:
Possibly, but as I keep pointint out, you can't equate it to shoplifting because there's a victim involved in shoplifting - the shop actually loses out.

As always - there are victims when speeding motorists are involved. It is simply that you refuse to recognise they exist....
The elderly person who feels that they cannot cross a road because the traffic is speeding is a victim. The person who feels they can no longer cycle because traffic is to fast is a victim.......

So if (as is the case) we have an increasing number of people committing vehicle theft - we should consider that the law preventing vehicle theft should be reconsidered?

With an increase in rape case (doubled since 1997) we should be reviewing the law that says rape is unacceptable?
