Who mentioned 'holding people back' Joe Sacco?

A society which encouraged everyone to give of their best in order that everyones wellbeing was elevated, rather than our Cuckoo society which enriches a few individuals at everyone elses expense would represent a clear improvement over the current 'free market' distortions , offering to hugely increase the total available collective wealth and resources.

No one would be held back - all would prosper from a fair, equal and democratic system of society.

I think you've made it quite clear what you (or this tiresome internet caricature of yours) believes in the 3000 odd, practically identical posts you've made.

Edited for stupid typing.

No need to enquire which side of the free speech democratic divide you sit on.

Don't read the posts if you don't appreciate the content.

Even a thick-head can understand that, can't you?

In Gazville there will be a 'inverted double exponential' tax scale which will make it effectively impossible for any single person to earn more than 5 x the average annual salary

No, keep it up redders. I enjoy our little ding dongs.

<goes back into stirring mode[:p]>

Did you read the piece in the The Observer about hedge fund managers? Apparently the highest earner got $1.7 billion in income last year - he used to be a maths professor, but found the money was a bit too tempting. The Observer said that œ50 million annual bonuses are surprisingly common and the trick down effect has been so successful that estate agents are paying million pound bonuses to key staff.

Where does earning a 'fair' amount for what you have contributed end, and greed begin? I well remember Mrs Thatcher completely avoiding answering this question when it was posed to her.

One suggested solution I heard: greed is the desire for anything over and above what you need to live, i.e. to keep you fed and have a roof over your head.

Again, that is the society you want not the one I want. Your society only works if 100% of people buy into it. Some people are not motivated by the well being of others, human nature - survival of fittest etc,. I'm afraid.
By not allowing this natural behaviour you are holding people back. By holding people back within a country the country as a whole is worse off economically and we would then go down in the world economy and before you know it be a 3rd world country. Would everyone still be happier than?

... so those who disagree with you are fools. You made the classic mistake of all those who believe in 'equality'; the 'I know what's best for you' approach to equality.

And when I reject your ideas do you put me against a wall, send me to a Gulag or cook me in an oven?

Do you carry enough weight to be worth cooking and eating? If the answer is no, you are safe, if it is yes, you are failing to ride your bike often enough.

We've had this discussion before. I think redders is a shoot them man, rather than a gasser. Gassing has nasty connotations and marks you down as an extremist.
