Deja Vu. Just got home from a stay in hospital.
Another Heart Attack last Saturday whilst attending my daughters wedding in Wales, just after my speech. I had a warning when training a few days earlier that something was wrong when I had a pain in my chest up into my jaws that wouldn't go away when raising the effort levels.
Seems as though my poor form was due to a blocked artery. Still at least I can get that sorted when they have me back in for an angioplasty. AND more importantly the hospital did an echo scan that shows my heart unscathed. So watch this space. Mike

I hope your recovery goes well, Mike. Now I'm no medical expert, but if the doctors advise you to take it easy for a while, I'd do exactly that. Take care.0

Tell me to eff off for being nosey if you want Mike, but were you given a reason as to why your artery was blocked?
You're previous racing history would make me assume that you followed a healthy diet which rules out too much fatty food and booze. Whatever it was though, you've a watertight defence for poor form.
Good luck, have a speedy and full recovery. [:)][:)][:)]0 -

My cholesterol levels showed OK at 6.3. Until I get the angiogram procedure I won't know if it's a problem with the orginal stent (90% blockage main right artery), or the 40% blockage on the left side which they left alone owing to it's awkward position, or something completely new.
I have low blood pressure which I measured last week at 98/48. At the time of the heart attack though it was 165/90. My pulse has been a bit high for me for about 6 weeks at over 50. Before that it was 42 bpm. I think my biggest problem is stress related. I find it difficult to relax.
The cardio rehab guy I saw said that my excellent condition was instrumental in the way I recovered very quickly with little or no damage to the heart. I felt Ok again after one day! Yet the first time I had a heart attack I felt bad for weeks. Their heart specialist said no more racing and the rehab guy said TT's were probably OK. The way I see it if the heart is OK and I can get the arteries sorted then "Game On".0 -
Sorry to hear your news Mike. I thought you'd gone a bit quiet recently. I suppose in a small way it must be a comfort to understand the cause of your poor form.

6.3 mol/ml LDL isnt OK, its too high; but anyways Mike hope you get fixed quick, and can get back on your bike safely. Keep Smiling.

According to the literature from the Heart Foundation the target for total cholesterol should be 5 or less. So 6.3 is higher than this target.
Target Total < 5.00; Mine 6.3*
Triglyceride < 2.00; Mine 1.02
HDL > 1.00; Mine 1.53
LDL < 3.00; Mine 4.31*
Ratio Total/HDL < 4.5; Mine 4.11
I miss out on two of the target levels, the total and the LDL levels. All the other are OK.
There is an interesting statistic which states " 46% of people who die from a heart attack below the age of 75 have high cholesterol." [:D] If that means that 54% who die have normal or low cholesterol then the odds are in my favour. I also intend to live past 75 when my chances of survival are enhanced with higher levels of cholesterol.[:D]
Thanks for all your good wishes. Mike0 -
