it's all a matter of perspective, I mean how many of you have ridden loads of top end bikes anyway? Maybe your knowledge comes from pictures alone?

Working in a bike shop which recycles abandoned bikes, and repairing rusty crud all day, any top end bike looks nice, and one with all these innovations together looks great.

If you want to slag the trek off, post a pic of your bike, and we'll all judge that!

Wow you're sensitive. So other people criticizing a design of a new bike that is presumably nothing to do with you is 'slagging it off' then? Maybe everybody on here should enthuse about everything new to keep you happy.

Hypocrisy is only a bad thing in other people.

I have a Madone, does that qualify to state my opinion on the new one? If so, I think it's awful. And yes I've ridden an Orca as well.

Least it's made my next purchasing decision easier.

Does it matter if you have ridden a top end bike or not? If you don't like a bikes shape, colour, etc, you don't like it - top end or bottom end. You can't like everything!!

I'm assuming you'll be starting us off in a 'I'll show you mine if you show me yours' topic. [:D]

I see they still can't get away without having to stick an inch of spacers under the stem. They even mention the problem with water getting trapped in the frame - only really an issue with the old model! The inside-out seatpost is novel - but I'm not sure of any performance benefit - apart from solving the water ingress problem mentioned previously. It's incredible given the resources available to them that they can't come up with anything better looking than what one girl in Spain can achieve with Orbea - like the Olympic logo, just shows that design by commitee isn't necessarily a good thing.
• Ok I've found one picture where it looks ok http://www.cyclingnews.com/newsphotos.p ... auction_jp

The problem is the paint schemes they've used don't help the looks of the thing, they should have gone with bare carbon like the original prototypes. Still won't be replacing mine with one though.
• I am amazed at the heat generated by this topic. The cyclingnews.com item has some interesting shots of the new framce. It looks pretty good
to me. Previously, I dismissed Treks out of hand because test rides on they left me unimpressed. Would I buy one? Not at the moment but if I was in the market for a new bike this might spark some interest. So in that respect the new design has worked [:D] I'd wait for a review or three first anyway.

Full report on www.cyclingnews.com today. That is a really innovative bike. New Bontrager brakes, a 'pocket' on the fork for a transmitter, the seat-tube andthe b/b shell or lack of! They are ideas that other manufacturers will be copying.
