Not to worry... I missed it myself first time I looked. I think the CycleGuard lists are just copies of the Sold Secure Bronze/Silver/Gold lists.

By the way, the shackle on my lock is long enough for all the situations I've tried it with (which covers everything I do on a routine basis). I'm not sure that would be the case with a mini lock. The cable that comes with the lock would not stand up to an attack with bolt cutters but it's useful to deter kids/casual thieves from stealing the wheels, and someone with bolt cutters would probably not bother if they can't take the whole bike.

ETA have introduced new rules as of the 1st of june. If you take out a policy after that date, it doesn't matter what lock you use and you don't have to have proof of purchase of it, even if a claim is after the 1st june, as long as it was taken out before that. If you take out a policy 1st june or after, apparently you have to have proof of purchase of a lock on one of the standard bronze silver or gold lists.

    A bit overkill, but I bought a Squire SS50 + MC4 lock and chain. More commonly used for motorcycles: http://www.sounddistribution.co.uk/prod ... 10-SS50MC4

It's a bit of a beast though - around 4-5kg. I guess I'll only use it at home and if I'm riding into Central London.

<blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="quote">quote:<hr height="1" noshade id="quote">My pet hate is improperly locked bikes. There is a new Giant at work with a good quality lock though the front wheel, a quick twist of the quick release and say cheerio to the bike.<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">

That's why you find a large number of front wheels, with very good locks, tied to the bike rack outside Watford Met. underground station.
