Good god, man!
Don't go spreading rumours until they actually make an announcement.

its not official but it is "extremely likely".
Also there are proposed plans for a chairlift to be in place in four years.

I read an article not long ago about the chairlifts, just think they need to get some funding for the project. Will be awesome if it happens!!

Just out of interest, why is everyone getting so excited about the chairlifts? Surely if there's an uplift service then it doesn't matter if it's the back of a van or on a chairlift, no?0

just can't imagine driving all that way for temperatures 10deg lower than the south and pissing rain, when I can drive the same hours and ride in the alps in warm sunshine and eat good food.0

you get far more runs on a chairlift in a day, and your bike doesn't get scratched to hell (as much, at least).
But I do agree with paulf completely

Chairlifts are cool, and they make it look more professional.
Also it costs more money to get to the Alps then it does to Scotland, got to pay for ferry/train etc

but then, you are in the alps. so I think that's pretty much worth the extra œ30. Oh, and the miles and miles of lifts rather than 1 lift with a couple of runs.
and the 30 degree sunshine.

It hasn't been announced. It has sod all to do with the Hub, they no longer hold the contract. Officially, it still hgasn't been signed, but it is the guys from Ae-up who are running it now. They are saying potentially the end of the month, but nothing is confirmed until it is all signed.
The chairlift is not being installed in 4 years.
The point of starting a new uplift is to prove they can get the numbers to make a chairlift viable. They want at least 25,000 visitors a year to Inners before they will fund a chairlift. Nothing is set in stone, stop spreading rumours please.

25,000 is a whole lot of visitors
As UHDH says, you need to do a study before you commit to a civic project, and this is reasonably capital intensive.
I do corporate finance and work with big numbers. AS UHDH says, don't spread rumours until we get confirmation.
The numbers will speak for themselves
and you can quote me on that0 -
Put it into context, the threshold for investment in the chairlift is 25,000
25,000 riders over a year
= 480 riders a week
= 68 people a day
An uplift would need to carry around 50 people daily, with the rest of the numbers covered by xc riders, people wanting to do it on the cheap, or people after lost bookings.
It is do-able, just bloody hard.

I don't currently do any downhill, but I'm sure UHDH you can help me with this.
How many runs would you do a day if you had unlimited uplifts?
Reason I ask is that of your 480 riders per week, we could assume that 50% of them will ride on a weekend. If each rider does, say, 10 runs, that's 2400 individual runs per weekend, or 1200 per day. Could inners actually cope with that volume of riders in its current state?
A chairlift would be awesome0 -
No, it couldn't.
The length of a line at Inners would be about 15min uplift. Give 10min to get back down, thats 25min per run. Take an opening time of say 10am - 5pm thats potentially 2 runs per hour plus 10min break. A person could do 14 - 20 runs in a day.
