Seemingly trivial things that cheer you up

Doesn't look like it'll be ready yet.
Ha - listen to the beast from well before the fire... you'll never hear an English organ anything like that... those reeds are just something else!!

I did once play some Messiaen on Exeter Cathedral organ, but even with all the stops out it just sounded like an 'amuse oreille' in comparison with that full-throttle aural assault.

Getting a same-day GP appointment having filled in the online triage form.
OTOH, maybe they privately think I'm on the way out.

Have downloaded.
Am also trying to book tickets for an organ recital at the Albert Hall.

One to crank up the volume for when the neighbours are out... or when they are in, if you want to scare the living daylights out of them.

Thomasina Miers giving advice on making porridge to the R4 Today audience. Comedy gold.

Am also discovering Bach's Passacaglia and feel a sudden urge to create something devious in a castle.

Just been on the phone to Nationwide Building Soc. to confirm change of address that I really should have done in 1986! I was living at my half sisters back then.
Found out that I had £3.01 in my Young Savers Acc! Marvellous. They asked if I wanted to close it since it has had no activity since 1991 but I opted to keep it since it was set up for me in 1977. Means I can get some better options for next year's ISA deals too.
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

The C Minor one? There's a fantastic arrangement for eight trombones:

Not only getting a very prompt and apologetic reply to an email from a company about some very dangerous driving from a company van, but finding out that all their vans have trackers on them. Driver really shouldn't have shown me the middle finger when I'd only just managed to avoid being flattened by him when he was already in the wrong lane.

Just listened on the decent hifi , your description is accurate!

Being told that I'd accumulated a leaving gift of £240 representing £10 for each of my years at school. I decided that I'd like to get something rather extravagant that I'd probably not buy without the prompt, that not only would get good use, but would remind me of a splendid place to have worked and excellent colleagues. (I leave on 18 December.)
£280 on new proper leather walking boots. Meindl. Just the right size with chunky socks on. Now just to wear them in before doing any proper walks in them. Haven 't decided whether to export these to France and bring back the older Scarpas.

Wait, shorts at this time of year? And at your age?

Excellent choice of footwear!

Showing a bit of leg aux Françaises...
Actually wasn't that chilly, though it was decidedly breezy.

I've got some decent fabric walking boots, but they just don't mould themselves to your feet over time in the same way as leather boots do. First pair of Meindl boots for me (the ones in France are Scarpas), but they look and feel the biz. It was nice to be extravagant yet only have to pay £40 out of my own pocket.

Lush. Good effort without mechanical assistance as well.

Yup, nice boots, but shorts with leather boots could easily become the new white socks n sandals.😉

Pretty much the postie uniform around here these days.
Weather has taken a turn for the worse so the trainers have been upgraded.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Tell that to my French female fans. They might find a guillotine in your size if my mollets are covered up on summer hikes.

He just needs to up grade the shorts to Lederhosen then he’ll be fine.

Why *are* hiking socks so long? I've never understood.

Nettles? Brambles? Ticks?

Old style is to tuck long trousers into them, so you need a certain amount of length for that.

After an uptick (sic) in lymes I suspect tucking your trousers in will be the norm again.

No that’s wrong. They were long because you wore them with breeches sort of plus 2’s, plus 4,s.

I live in tick central now. My cat comes home with 2 or 3 on him a day.
I still can't bring myself to wear my trousers in my socks.
Question - is it only British people prone to sing The Happy Wanderer who ever put trousers inside socks?
