Thanks! They have some good prices there! Cheapest I've seen.

Could you warm a sheet up to make it bendy? To create an inverted U canopy. Fun. No hard box edges at the top (at lest at the front anyway). Would provide good visibility. Curved surface = less dust accumulation.

An interesting concept! It would be difficult to achieve a consistent bend and get end pieces cut to match without much fettling and sanding and making a royal mess. I would need a big oven to heat it uniformly and total hight of each side is around 520mm by 510mm long so my oven would have to be over a meter wide. Maybe Dominos Pizza down the road would oblige? I would need to make a wooden form to bend it over whilst it cools too. FTFTBBW!!!
On a related note, when I was between 7-12 I was madly keen on crafts and had many, many craft/DIY books. One particularly garish 1970's book had a whole section on making Perspex things that involved heating sheets in the oven. I was madly desparate to try this but living in a rural part of South Africa perspex was impossible to find.

Eldest attempted making some out of a lexan anti shatter type material. He tried doing boxes but couldn't get consistent neat welds. This was to cover his lego models. He's since brought suitably sized premade ones. Not cheap.

Actually I need to get a glass dome for my dad's Skeleton Clock. That too needs a good clean and lubrication before I wind it up again.
Some of these look quite affordable too.

The eldest picked up a number of acrylic domes for his lego helmet collection. Seem ok and his quote was they stop the dust. I think etsy do some as well.
