Broke her leg in two places, fractured an ankle and tore ligaments of the bone.

Fell over a garden step

That's some incredibly bad luck 😞

Potentially her last show at the Olympics too - I know she has several medals already from previous editions.

Such a pity for her. She always seems like a motivator for the team too and will definitely be missed. Hoping she recovers well.

    oh goodness.

In reality, this is almost certainly at least two medals that either won't be achieved, or will be of a lesser colour, she is such a huge engine, and probably the women's pursuit were joint favourites prior to her injury :-(

  • Having watched the World's team pursuit tonight it just reinforced what a big miss she was at the Olympics.

  • Agreed. Maybe a slightly flattering opposition - no USA or NZ who won gold and silver in Paris - but making the "catch" in a world final takes some doing.

For sure, two gold medals imho.

Still nowhere LK's prediction of 9 I think it was, but 3 would have been better than 1.

*Reading up the thread I realise I have just repeated myself from July 🤡

  • I think Dame Laura learnt the hard way quite quickly about the difference between being a pundit and team mate. In my experience, a positive, enthusiastic team mate, who clearly believes in you is great. But a pundit needs to factor in that the opposition is quite good too!

That said, against my expectations, I rather like Dame Laura as a pundit. Sir Chris does the sober, rational stuff, backed up by Mr Glass Half Empty Boardman in the commentary box. So Dame Laura adds balances with her positivity. There's a place for most personality types as part of a balanced team. Three Boardman's would have me looking for my service revolver where three Lauras would have me needing sedatives!

Have to be honest, I didn't see her or Chris in action at all, only her insta posts, as I was watching it on Discovery.

I certainly saw a lot of divided opinion on her, but personally used to love her as a rider, and in her interviews.
