Sunglasses
Which cycling sunglasses/ lenses do you wear in low light conditions? Thinking of getting some photochromatic lenses for overcast/ low light rides but interested to know what everyone uses
Thanks

Yes, photochromic. Madison do some decent value ones if you don't want to shell out for the likes of Oakley

I use these Oakleys. They brighten the light quite considerably, to the point they make really grey overcast days seem closer to normal light conditions.

Hmmmm. The question is what do I use, but I doubt you’ll like the answer.
Serengeti sports drivers. Why? I need prescription so may as well get multiple use. They are suitable for cycling but also driving and everyday sunnies.
As an aside and a tip, Judge the quality of your glasses by what you can see while looking into a low sun. Nothing will be perfect but good glasses help rather than hinder.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
I use photochromic, but I find the greatest benefit is in bright conditions where you can be plunged into shadow. I have two pairs, one pair goes from medium light to quite dark, the other from almost clear to medium dark. The former I use for bright days, the latter for evening rides where I could be riding home in the dark. For overcast/low light I just use clear lenses.

I wear Optilab photochromatic varifocals. I use them mainly for mtbing where there are constant light changes as you plunge into and out of deep forest. They work perfectly and it's doubly important that they lighten quickly as It's very important to identify trail feature changes, roots, rocks etc.

I have Oakley photochromics and rate them very highly, but I rarely tend to wear them now, as I've bought the Scott equivalent, and find them just as good (I was shocked too!) and fit my face, and stay in position even better.
I have a few pairs, but my favourites are the Pro shield light sensitive glasses: https://www.westbrookcycles.co.uk/pro_shield_light_sensitive_sunglasses_(2022)-7180
If you shop around, especially if you look in Europe, there are some cheaper providers, just check their customs rules etc etc.

I splurged and went for one of each, the lime green/yellow and the all black 😘😎😬
*I bought the black ones after discovering how good the yellow ones were.

Oakley Flak 2.0XL Photochromic see links below.
They are brilliant for some of the dark lanes in Hampshire from tree shade. They react quickly from bright sunlight to shade and back again v quickly and deal with bright sunshine too. Mine have lasted v well over several years with no deterioration in the lenses. Light and a good fit. I use year round.
Just make sure when ordering that lenses are photochromic and not simply the clear lenses! I think the links are both photochromic lenses! : - )

I've got them as well, seem to do the job.

Always good to get some feedback from the OP, especially when people have taken the time to reply and given some useful information.
