mild and gloomygrey, tops of not very tall buildings are in the low cloud
on an actual train, first definitely isn't what it was, they seem to have forgotten the dining carriage, at least there'll be brekkie at the other end

A train journey SG? How bracing.
Wotcha
Fine, fine morning for stage 5 of Classica Vuelta e Rhins* once I get the wotsits out the door and fuel up.
Laters
*The route will take me out of the Rhins today and into the borders of the Machars. Exciting stuff.

On the Fife coast, in the MH, nice meal and wine with friends last night, bit grey and blowy, maybe a sea dip after breakfast!

Just finishing an iced lemon tea before boarding a ferry to Capri.
very hot today, will need a cold beer at some point.

Had a beer or two at minions leaving drinks last night. Rounding off the week with hopefully not too many dramas and looking at the weather for weekend riding, which looks somewhat iffy.

was going to exercise restraint after an excess of tawny port last night, made it as far as lunchtime, there was wine to be quaffed and to refuse might give offence
relentless gloom and rain, is it always like this in the sticks?

Where are these 'sticks'?!
Sunny here.
Had coffee and coffee cake in the Bistro in the (real) sticks having got there in the purring, dancing, weaving, Porsche.

perhaps it's a south of the river thing as it's looking brighter ahead

Afternoon
Quite a nice day here apart from the wind. Started off bed dismantling and loft clearing. Went for a longish ride of 62 miles plus despite the wind. Got a bit of a kicking so feeling a bit battered, so it’s lounging on the sofa watching the cycling to recover.

How was the Tour de Pond stage 5? Did you leak a load of time again to the red jersey in waiting?

Given that the wind was in a North Easterly direction (which wasn't anticipated) the planned route across the border into the Machars (in keeping with the International status of the event; UCI classification 9.0) was postponed. Though, I replicated Mikel Landa's effort on Stage 18 of yesterdays Vuelta stage. However, this is immaterial because (and I find this very odd), as the only entrant, I could leak anywhere. So that pic is from 2 weeks ago.

On day release, I used to meet with my lady friend in a coffee shop in Richmond - off the Quadrant.

A sunny day indeed in The Homeland, of course. What else could it be?
Not a day of Mikel Landa-ing for me, though feeling a bit that way now. Hard landscaping day, now covered in dust from slicing those slabs, sitting out front with a coldie to be followed imminently by a v welcome shower down,
Granddaughter #1 has taken it right over the line, she is now D+1. If still no action then the plug will be pulled on Monday.

From one of the HMP’s I presume.🤣🤣🤣🤣

Close. Next door to the Scrubs, funnily enough. Hammersmith hospital.

I could ask what sort of hospital is Hammersmith but that might be getting a bit non pc.

A hospital that treats stuff like Leukaemia.

You're probably thinking of The Maudsley.

I had to go to the Hammersmith a few times. Makes no sense that the Hammersmith is by the Scrubs and the Charing Cross hospital is in Hammersmith.

Yep. East Acton was such a lovely view from room 6, John Humphrey's ward.
First bloke I met when I was stretchered in was 'Barry': He said: "Hewo, my name's Barry Robinson, i'm from the Scrubs. I've got AIDS. Anyfink you need. i'll 'elp ya'". He paid a hefty price for sharing needles whilst banged up.
