Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

It is boomer music.

In a strange way I like them, they're ordinary blokes who made it happen. I also like the way Liam sings, you can hear every lyric. He stands up there, no fannying about.
"You've got to make it happen..."

He's also a brilliant tambourine player.

Yes, so when you're 18, go see the band. Don't wait until you're 50 and they've decided to do a tour at 20 times the price for a fraction of the quality.

Oasis tickets felt pretty pricey when I was 18 and, let's face it, they were a mess for a long time before the split up.
Not sure why I'm defending it, I'm not interested in seeing them now.

They should have made 100% of the tickets dynamic priced if they think it's a good idea and helps beat the touts.

That's OK if you live somewhere near where they are playing when you're 18.
I was at university in Sheffield at 18 so saw pretty much everyone who I wanted to (and a few I didnt) but if I was in my hometown I wouldn't have seen much

Are you going?

In some cases I'm really glad I can go and see bands I wasn't able to as a kid - Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, Paul McCartney, Brian Wilson are a few examples. My 22 year old daughter really wants to see Oasis ... its no different. I saw Oasis a few times and I'd like to see them again. I've refused a few chances of overpriced tickets so far, hopefully something will show up. The dynamic priced tickets that have appeared thus far on Twickets have been sold very quickly, so even after the furore there is a market for them.

No intention of going at the moment, but if it sounds like they're putting on a decent show I might change my mind. And if the weather forecast is OK.
£150 to stand 100m away or be in the middle of a crowd getting covered in showers of beer doesn't float my boat.

Isn't that what you did for Blur?

Yes, there is a lot of crap H&S content and practice. That doesn't mean people don't need to be reminded regularly to do/not do things that seem obvious. Sick leave is also a waste of time and money. I'd suggest the quality of the content is reflective of the attitude of the person commissioning it.

People could just not buy the tickets for a bit and see what happens to the price.

No, I paid £140 to be in the front section. This was my view, and it was pretty relaxed.
Here you can see the £95 section and the £140 section. I don't think there's any different standing sections for Oasis.

I've figured it out. You e just dropped a lot of money at your practice on some of this sort of H&S content, and you are trying to console yourself it was worth the dent in your bonus.

Stark difference between the Blur and Oasis Wembley dates. I applied for a Blue Light card when the tickets were released as I realised I was allowed. It took a week to process, and then I bought two £50 tickets for the Sunday (which I don't think ever fully sold out).

Would Oasis be better in holographic form, like they did for Bowie at London 2012?
I think they would.

yebutt the hype is part of the fun, right?
And, let's face it, Oasis clips are absolute social media catnip in a way Blur and that insufferable basist never are.
This is objectively hilarious:

Nope.
I'm just interested in it. I've had too many projects delayed because someone's lopped a few fingers off or f***ed their back up doing something that everybody knows they shouldn't do.

Do you understand the distinction between a construction site and my home office though?
Fwiw I did 12m work experience in a safety group. What little I understood at that age did give me an appreciation of the way they had to look at things. The gist seemed to be generally as follows.
A - So, if you close that valve when it is running, what happens?
B - You don't need to close that valve when it is running.
A - Yes but what would happen.
B - No one would close that valve.
A - But if you closed it what would happen ?
B - Well the pressure would build up and that Dewar would explode. That's why no one would close it.
A - Thanks, put a sign on the valve, and put the Dewar behind a perspex barrier. Don't use it in the meantime.
B - Health and Safety gone mad.

What do you do for fun, other than watch H&S videos on YouTube?
0 -
Funny you should say that. The friend of mine who's a director of a house-building company had a glazier do virtually that a few months ago... someone who's worked as a glazier most of his life (I think), had all the H&S stuff over and over, for some reason decided to carry a sheet of glass without gloves. You really can't fix stupid with a video or ten.

All sorts. I've never watched a H&S video on YouTube, though.

Can absolutely guarantee that someone will turn the valve off. It's just there, begging for someone to touch it.

Oddly, over the past 15-20 years or so I've started to appreciate music from before I was born a lot more. Of this year's big gigs the one I wish I'd got tickets for was Billy Joel (some of his hits are from my youth but many are earlier). I used to think the 70s was a musical desert but I'm finding more and more I like from then (but still loath ELO) and there have always been 60s groups I've liked. There's far less from the 90s, when I was in my late teens / 20s, that I listen to.
