Are the Windies going to show us how it's really done?

Woakes with the early wicket off the back of his 60-odd with the bat, showing why he's one of the best players in the world in English conditions!

Looks like they're going to give it a shot

Mark Wood, before lunch, hadn't taken a wicket. Since lunch? 5fer in 6 overs for 9 runs.
Not too shabby
England need 82

Stokes has promoted himself to opening.
Eng 38-0 after 3 🤯

England win. 87-0 in 7.2 overs.
I'm guessing someone had dinner plans later this afternoon.

Made it look easy in the end, when we were 54-5 I thought we were in a bit of trouble!

In one of the biggest shocks since it was announced that the Pope is catholic, Micheal Mott stands down as England white ball coach

The BBC has breaking news that Graham Thorpe has died, aged just 55.

😕
Bugger.

Been seriously ill for 2 years apparently, I hadn't heard anything about that.

I'd heard about it, but didn't realise it was as serious as that.

Rocky Flintoff got 88 not out in the one day cup yesterday (which seems to have been a good comp, despite being massively sidelined for the Hundred).
Took 12 people from work to Old Trafford on Tuesday for the Hundred, and it was a decent day out to be fair. Helped that the game was close and relatively high scoring, and the weather was nice.

Seeing the trailer for Flintoff’s documentary it’s the first time I’ve seen him since his accident. Still not sure what happened but it was obviously really bad. Can’t work out if his speech has been affected and, if so, whether that is due to the facial injuries themselves or a brain injury.

Suicide - and the hospitalisation in 2022 was due to the same.

Really really sad, just can't fathom how someone could get to that place.

When I commented before it was after doing a search as I seemed to recall him having had some mental health issues in his playing days but thought I'd jumped to the wrong conclusion when I saw about him having been ill.

Also Stokes likely out of at least the first Sri Lanka game following a hamstring injury in the Hundred (........)
Could be interesting. I'll be there on the Friday 😁

And Sri Lanka have just managed to beat India in an ODI series for the first time in 27 years

Aww no, yeah I just saw the BBC article.

In other news - Jimmy likely to play short form: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/articles/cgrjnz8pgkvo
Reading between the lines, he's going to get a lot of money to play in the Hundred next year to try and bring people in.
Ironic that they made such a fuss about Stokes playing this year for him to make 4 runs in 9 balls across 3 innings and then do his hamstring, likely removing him from the next Test... Given that he didn't play IPL etc in order to make sure he was fit for Tests!

Stokes confirmed as out for the rest of the season.

The Flintoff TV show yesterday was quite something. Worth a watch because it was definitely nothing like what they thought they were commissioning.

Haven't watched it yet but from the bits I've seen it looks like the programme has helped him and that he could have been on a slippery slope after his accident. It seems like he was becoming quite reclusive and his mental health was taking a hit. When you think how outgoing and adventurous he was previously whatever actually happened to him was obviously extremely traumatic.

I see Sri Lanka are playing a warmup game against England Lions - doesn't look to be going great for them at the moment, 134-9

Hmm...

Hundred eliminator is quite exciting.
Hate the TV graphics though

I can't watch it.
Put it on earlier and it annoyed me constantly.
Still don't understand why it exists.

I'm not sure what it gives ahead of T20 (aside from the apparent commercial aspects). The games I've watched have generally been fairly decent, but the graphics really take from it rather than add to it.

I have watched most of it and I would describe it as being like T20 but generally with much lower scoring.
I attribute this to the amount of movement bowlers were getting from the controversial balls used.
Oh and I am another one who thinks the graphics are shiite.
