Good night in the pub, nipped in to see a mate at five and then people just kept turning up until closing time, not sure if the wife will be happy as I brought a few back with me.
unsure what today will bring, potentially some work and some fun

Early start for an office trip but no pedalling today. Found a baby pigeon in the undergrowth in the garden yesterday - wondered what the dogs were trying to get at. Luckily for the pigeon there was fencing between them. Stuck it in a cardboard box with a towel so it was comfortable overnight. Double lucky that junior is a nearly qualified vet and took it this morning to then practice where she's on placement this week.
Onwards to tax mitigation and coffee.

Is she fattening it up for the pot?

Nope, it looked a bit mangy. Some of the local fatbastard wood pigeons would make a decent supper though, we'll have train the hounds to be a bit better at hunting. Or get a cat.

Earlier start to the morning than expected as we awoke to the aroma of fresh puppy poop at 6am.
Just booked a swim for lunch and possibly a run with the club later. I need to get up to 5km without dying...

Hopefully you don't let said puppy sleep on your bed, HD...

No she's in our room but in her own bed. I rolled over this morning to what I first thought was a quality fart from the wife then realised even she isn't capable of that sort of smell.

Afternoon folks,
Another day of fun in the orifice after a damp wobble in. We found a sparrow in our garden the other day, I don't think any vet could have saved it, was in a bit of a strange spot. Looked like it had fallen into the top of a small bush, something had been eating bits of it. Spotted a Kestrel going into the tree above it yesterday and that's where the sparrows often hang out. Or they used to at any rate.
Hopefully out for a ride and a beer if the weather holds later.

5hrs 21 mins in the saddle today, over the moors and far away [poetic]. Beautiful day. At no point did my Colnago try to spit the RD at the road.
Had excellent cake as there was a fine selection with terrible coffee in the tiny village shop with it's one table over the other side of the moors. We (the owner from Taunton, a local truck driver, a guy from Texas - now resident and myself) had a good conflab about a brand new Volvo trick stuck in a bog 2 miles away on a different road.
Now enjoying chocolate chip ice cream, protein shake with extra cocoa powder mixed with milk and double cream. Think I earnt it. House is spooky quiet bar the jingle of Beans' bell as he's decided to give himself a damn good clean the filthy tramp. Pork (-marinated in dark soy sauce) stir fry later when the DW's get back from a shopping spree up the road a bit. So glad I skipped that.

cocoa powder certainly is the only way to make high5 choc recovery protein drink palatable
rd is staying put with it's new hanger
though my plan to retire the rear tub, veloflex protour race, which had become distinctly squared off after a few thousand km, but was entirely cut free, was advanced due to the fuckwit who smashed a bottle in the road thereby inflicting a slow puncture on it, new one glued on

It is indeed. I use a combination of Reflex 100% whey and SIS Rego which are both not very palatable in equal measure (predominantly bland). The Reflex offers great VFM and the Rego more recovery orientated.

I thought that The Reflex is a lonely child, who's waiting by the park?
I'll get my coat...

Evening.
Like Pinno I too enjoyed 5 hours plus out on the bike. Although I was with a few boomers, however my recovery drink is red and comes in a bottle from Italy.

Did you carry a spare hanger?!

Guinness later para mi.

not on ride, had one in my bag of stuff in the bikebox (and the correct torx bit, spare screws, and some loctite 243)
imo it's a crappy design, all the stress is at that screw hole, it's the second i've had fail in this position, though the last one i caught in inspection, which is why i travel with a spare (and am ordering a couple more, though trying wmf ones this time)
fortunately the broken end of the hanger and the rd battery were the points of contact with the road, so the rd itself wasn't damaged, and being on 11t cog at the time, the cage etc. were furthest away from the spokes

I read this out to Mrs W who was much amused but asked was Mrs HD aware of your post.🤔

My RDH screws in from the wheel side and doesn't have those structurally inexplicable holes. Loctite 242/243 as a vibration damper?
TBH, I have never used or felt the need for Loctite on the rear hanger. Though your xcr(?) is ss isn't it? I think my hanger is just simply a hardened metal.
seanoconn - gruagach craic!0 -
yes it's the xcr. loctite is for the tiny screws, otherwise they can loosen over time
might try getting a steel one made if/when i'm in the mood
