Send Adam Yates in the break and then let it win.

But Rabobank, sorry Visma have some miracle cures.
It is unbelievable that Jonas has been as competitive this tour.

Agree. There's no shortage of budget at Visma. Sure after their success last year they may not need to pay top dollar to get some riders, but they still have a big budget.

Exactly, he has the Vuelta to get ready for.

I think he should let the break go

Without getting all Kevin Keegan, I would love it if he won it. Love it.
Of course losing it during the run in is utterly, utterly Lanterne Rouge. Keegan would have been a natural.

The top times on the Bonette today were 'only' 38.5 minutes faster than my time. Not bad considering I am more than old enough to be their dads! 😀
I would have been timed out today.
Going for the Vuelta really must be crossing Pogi's mind. No one has ever done it before, so it must be really tempting to try for immortality.

Looking at the numbers only pog can beat Carapaz for the polka dot and he needs more points than the 10 at the finish line

Looking at some other numbers, Pog o car was over 7 minutes faster up Isola than Indurain and Rominger in 1993.

His lead is still a way off the margin he was beaten by last year.

Have you seen that 93 stage? It's absolutely nuts, basically today's stage but with Isoard tacked onto the start 😮
Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
It is absolutely true they’ve watered down the stages over the decades and I think it hurts people like vingegaard

I've seen a few suggestions that Pog should have gifted the win to Jorg but in my opinion this is way off
The team who won all 3 Grand Tours last year, including a 123 in one of them, don't need gifts
2 -
Remco getting excited about this 🤣

Yeah, but when you see the "racing" at the Giro when they have hard stages, I would say the decision to "water down" is justified

Exhibit b - the 3rd week of the Giro 2023. Rog and G just marking each other waiting for the time trial

Roglic not going for a long one, you do surprise me. There’s a reason we say he Roglifies stages
Thomas waiting for the TT - again, shocked.

Exhibit c - yesterday. Can you imagine how more dull it would've been if they'd added the Izoard as well?

Am I the only one not regularly watching cycling from start to finish nowadays?
I want good finales! I don’t need racing all day.

In which case long hard days are irrelevant. Might as well have a 60 Kms sprint.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Nah you need the distance to make the selection. We all see how 290km affects the smallest of hills every March and we forget it the rest of the year.

Wait a minute. You are wanting long stages which you have no intention of watching? Sponsors would be chuffed.

I'm in favour of massively long flat stages. I wouldn't watch all of them.
1 -
I just think the distance should be varied as much as the amount of climbing.
Nothing wrong with one or two 250km+ monster mountain stages, same as nothing wrong with sub 180km stages.

Yep, it’s ridiculous. If they’d been in a two man break together or it was a neo pro heading for their first big win then maybe it is something you do but not with someone who had potentially gone up the road as part of a tactic to support your main rival.
