Loverly out there, shame today is mostly meetings.

running later to cleanse all of that free ale out of my system, then pack ready for a week in probably wet Cornwall from tomorrow

It won't be long before the KAW will be heaving and then not worth doing surely?

    Raining. Meh.

Managed a pre work ride and saw an improvement in both power and speed what with the two being related. Was going to take a pic of a flat(ish) lake sans GI but time was against me so decided not to bother.

Powering through some bagles at my desk with some coffee.

What do do later... Probably food shopping 😕

    Morning

Thursday chore of cleaning bathroom done. Feeling a bit sore after yesterdays weights and ride. Today is less of the same when I’ve worked up the energy to get moving again.

Morning Workers and Shirkers. Survived get a year older yesterday somehow. Managed to wobble into work in the dry for a change. Got an evening ride planned with mates followed by the pub and the beer I didn't drink. Don't work too hard folks.

Nice ride into town in summer gear for a change. And today is my Friday so all is good in Stevo-World.

Happy Birthday Oxo - you're ahead of me again...

    Afternoon folks,

Another day of orifice based fun and games, I seem to be having more work coming my way. Shame I can't do what I already have to do. Pleasant wobble in this morning at least, bike was utterly filthy after Monday evenings splash down the tow path. Picked it up to put it in the bike rack and there was water coming out of the frame. A strip down and lube job is needed this weekend I reckon.

Out with the old bike crowd last night, I definitely need more bikes. I'm a complete amateur compared to that lot. Not only do they have lots of bikes they aren't exactly budget models, Colnagos, De Rosas, Bianchis and Vituses (Vitii?) aplenty.

There's a bunch of old blokes ride out this way every Friday morning, usually stop to regroup and chat down the end of the road. I always see the same half dozen or so guys, always on the same bikes. I'm tempted to ask if they all only have 1 bike?? Seems bizarre to me...

Visitors for two days, left this arvo. Peace and quiet again. Cold and windy/wet a lot. Blah.

    Happy Birthday Oxo.

Yeah cheers. 😀. In all fairness, we needed some rain as summer was particularly dry, so shouldn’t complain too much I guess.

One amusing side observation is that whenever the (state) government here makes some announcement about infrastructure or tourism things, the weather turns lousy. This week was fanfare for an expanded ferry service crisscrossing the river. Announced on a day of 40 kmh winds, sideways rain, temps of about 6 C, visibility less than 100m, and a choppy 1 metre swell running. Even a seasoned sailor would give that a miss.

The other project often mooted is a cable car up to the pinnacle of Mt Wellington, always touted as the best tourist thing ever. It would ascend over a cliff face section quite a few hundred feet above ground in places. Wind speed at the pinnacle on the day of a press release about it was approaching 160 kmh. At other times, the top third of the mountain is swathed in dense cloud for days on end.

Did the Kiwi's nick 'Mt Wellington' (proper noun) or was it you lot?

Seems we re-named the thing in 1832, the Kiwis only started their city in 1840.
