Seemingly trivial things that annoy you

I think you're thinking of the M48 bridge

I went over the M4 one for the first time last week. Was stunned by how goppingly ugly Celtic Manor is. It is like a child has tried to draw Gleneagles.

Very odd building isn't it

My first thought was Legoland.
My wife guessed a prison.

Sorry, yes, I'm well out of date... that used to be the M4 bridge.

It was opened in 1996. Where have you been, France or something?
0 -
Mind you, I didn't know there was such a long rail tunnel as well, and that opened in 1886.

The 'something' would be Devon. Actually, I have never been on the 'new' Severn crossing.

That is the Severn Bridge - the other one is the Prince Of Wales Bridge (or Second Severn Crossing)

OK?

That's my local pretty much. You can certainly tell Terry Matthews spent most of his adult life in North America (Canada). The convention centre isn't exactly easy on the eye either. The old manor house which was the original hotel and is still part of the hotel complex is dwarfed by it all (it was previously a private hospital where my wife was born as was Terry Matthews hence buying it for a hotel).

TBF, I also think of the old bridge as 'the' bridge. Possibly because I used to ride over it to go cycling up the Wye valley.

Ditto. The 'new' bridge will always be 'new' in my mind, which is slightly less ridiculous than the 'New Inn' at Broadclyst having had that name for a few hundred years.

Don’t think “Prince of Wales Bridge” has really taken off as a name. I still call it the 2nd crossing. They never built a cycle lane on it which is a travesty, but cycling across the old bridge which is far more elegant, is one of the pleasures in life I have to say.

It's been a while since I went to Wales. I thought you were allowed to travel at 60 on single carriage roads and 70 on dual carriageways just like England. I must be very lucky not to receive a ticket in the past as I didn't realise it was 30 everywhere. 😁
The older I get, the better I was.0 -
It's 20 everywhere. Even under blankets.

No blankets are banned. Its a blanket ban.

People who go into massive analysis of football matches.

Must say there are some very unfulfilled sounding people on the Euro 2024 thread.
I was going to try and join in but I’m well out of my depth.

I thought that was the logic for the car thread, but thread about using public transport seems to mostly be about driving cars.

Does appear there are some frustrated wannabe football mangers who post in Cake Stop.

It was indeed the aspiration, though that's turned more into the shiny fast cars thread, and everything else motor-related gets dumped into the one Stevo created so he in turn didn't have to bother with such trivialities. To be fair, I rarely look at the SFC thread, so it works to an extent.

It is, but I know I couldn't manage a footy team.

Football is as popular as it is because everyone can have an uniformed opinion. There is more spoken about it than there is football that it played. If you remove the pontification it's just another sport.

Any sport can have an uninformed opinion, just seems football has much more than most. Football is in my family - paternal grandfather was a pro who was capped twice for England (and managed to few teams) and his 3 brothers all played (one pro, two amateur) but I'm realistic about my abilities to play and manage.

But FM really makes you feel you can, even if deep down you know you’re playing against a spreadsheet
