One thing I'd like Labour to do is raise the basic Income Tax threshold to £15k+, I've lost track of how long it's been frozen and Hunt planned to keep it frozen until '28 iirc.

We all hear The Muppets banging on about them 'cutting taxes'. Aye right. From gov.uk:
"HMRC collected £827.7 billion in taxes in 2023 to 2024, an increase of 5.0% from the year before."
An increase of 5.0% is a substantial cut, the plan is working.

But Loon, you're a leftie so you must you want more taxes to be collected, so are you saying that the Tories are doing a good job?

The gap year one is great. Sorry, you'll have to come back from Australia once a month.

I'd be curious how they can 'immediately' inject cash into public services, but 'coming *after* sustained economic growth'. Either they think that time travel is possible or they are saying that we have already had a sustained period of economic growth.

The national service trope is just BS. It would never happen, even if Sunk somehow managed to rig the election results and keep his position. What news is getting dead cat shielded by all this rubbish?

Rick, are you not just a little bit worried by the prospect of a Labour government?
After all, the young, ambitious nouveau riche 'we pay a bit of top rate tax so we've made it even though we can't afford nice stuff or a decent house' demographic is hardly likely to be one of Labour's favourites and could well find itself worse off in the near future? 😉

There seems to be a big gap between what Labour says they will fix and where they will get all the money from to fix it. Either they are lying about not increasing taxes or they won't be fixing stuff.

How to say "we haven't thought about this" without saying "we haven't thought about this"
Utter shambles 😂🤣😂

What's the plan for universities when their intake is 0 on the first year they introduce this? Presumably all the spaces will go to international students?

Is that as big a gap as getting rid of National Insurance whilst spending £2.5 billion on National Service for 18 year olds?
I suspect you've missed the myriad "we'll only pay for X when finances allow" quotes from Reeves and Starmer because the Telegraph doesn't report on them.
But you do get very detailed reporting on what they think Angela Rayners did years before becoming an MP and amazing insight from the TrussTank, so swings and roundabouts.

I don't know, but then again I'm not too interested in whataboutery here.

I must say. I'm.enjoying this campaign tremendously

I just want this lot gone. Honestly. I am no natural labour supporter by any means but fuck this lot. I genuinely struggle to see labour as worse than this lot.
they cannot organise even a basic elec total campaign let alone govern the country.
they are a bunch of xenophobic ephibiphones who cannot organise anything. They are even economically illiterate and actively wreck the few remaining bits of the UK they haven’t already accidentally fucked because they can’t bare them being successful.
Their reaction to anything is to “ban it”. They ultimately oppose liberty and freedom.
they have given us the biggest tax burden since WW2 and delivered the worst wage rises since Napoleon.
that in turn has created the highest levels of crime for 30 years, overflowing prisons that mean criminals get let off early and the police try not to catch them. Theft and burglary are basically uninvestigated and so semi legal.
nhs waiting times are the longest in 15 years
this government is anti business, anti work, anti success, and illiberal. They are fucking useless.

Like I said, careful what you wish for.
Your Vorderman-esque hatred seems to be blinding you to some clear risks. Given you're always complaining about being able to afford stuff and houses, when you very likely end up with even less money each month, don't say I didn't warn you.

I guess you don't want to address the issue either?
Which is it - Labour lying about tax or lying about what they say they will fix?

So far Starmer and Reeves have done good job of presenting themselves as moderate and sensible, but Starmer has now been honest enough to admit that he's a socialist, so this is not some 'New Labour Tony and Gordon' tribute act that we might see running the country in July:
You have been warned again.

This policy just keeps on giving.
These are 18 year olds? Adults? And you can't rule out punishing the parents?

According to this very forum apparently under 25s are not to be trusted.
Keeps them from driving cars, amiritelads?!

That's two generations that are absolutely not voting tory.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
I think everyone can safely rule it out, along will all other aspects of the nonsense 'policy'

I suspect the term "socialist" isn't universally regarded as a pejorative, Stevo.

Mercer is a halfwit. None of this is ever going to happen, just like flights to Rwanda and banning smoking and banning smartphones for children and Martin's Law and Levelling up and 40 new hospitals and...
They have reached the point of being a party that can promise any old nonsense, safe in the knowledge that they'll never have to worry about putting it into practice.

Your challenge is to say just one positive thing about the Tories that doesn't involve "Corbyn", "Rayner", or "Be careful what you wish for". Just one.
Seriously. Go on, sell us the vision, basing your 'vision' on the accomplishments of the last 14 years. Not negatives, just one positive will do.
If you can read, you'll work out none of us are enthusiastic Labour voters, but all of us (I think) want to be rid of this utter shambles, who can't even make a decent announcement of a policy they know they will never have to carry out. The party now is no better than an out-of-date lettuce.
I think the most charitable interpretation of your posts is that you are just trolling. I really hope you don't believe what you are writing.

Also Rick, are you saying that a high tax burden is a bad thing? By implication, you must want tax cuts. Am I right?
