We've never heard that before from any government.

I am pretty sure Conservative HQ is using chat gpt to come up with some last minute policies.

The odd light-hearted comment in amongst all the leftiebollox is sometimes needed.

I haven’t seen the details yet (this being a Tory policy are there any?). I had been in full time work for over a year when I turned 18, would ai have had to give up my weekends to play soldiers under this scheme? What about students who are working all their spare hours to fund themselves? My daughter was a police cadet from 15-18 so already did the same sort of thing voluntarily, would she then have been compelled to do it whilst at Uni and give up paid work.
They really don’t see to realise the world has changed, as someone pointed out above you have to be over 80 to have done National Service (my 82 year old uncle was one of the first to avoid it) so anyone thinking it’s a good idea but didn’t volunteer to do something similar is hypocritical.
It’s bonkers.

Worth remembering the leader of Holland’s biggest party is significantly more Islamophobic than Farage.

Amusing that what is considered a punishment for committing crimes is something a major party is campaigning to make compulsory for all 18 year olds.
Are they deliberately trying to lose?

Perhaps openly, but I suspect behind closed doors they are equally vile.

Honestly I think Brits don’t realise how intolerant they are of extremist political chat. See how Farage tempers what he says, instead inferring it.
Here’s the leader of Holland’s most popular elected party.
The Qur’an is the Mein Kampf of a religion that aims to eliminate others … Ban that dreadful book just as Mein Kampf is banned.
Islam is not a religion; it’s an ideology, the ideology of a retarded culture.
The analysis is clear, we have a great problem with Islam, in the Netherlands too. The solution is not so complicated; what is missing are political guts and a feeling of urgency. Immigration from Islamic countries should be forbidden. We must learn to be intolerant with the intolerant, in the street, in the mosque, in court. We must answer hatred and violence by terrorists with exclusion and intolerance and show who the boss in the Netherlands is.
I don’t think any politician would actually be able to say that stuff in the UK. Ought to remind you, May of all people banned Wilders from coming to the UK on the grounds of hate speech.
I would say in general it’s impossible to have an honest and open debate on immigration in the UK but that does have some advantages…

Yebbut, don't Dutchies, in my experience anyway, tend to be Direct? Brits (🤔) tend to be a bit more subtle in their language, as in I say X but actually I mean X to the power N.

I do wonder if our far right isn't just a few years behind that kind of thing. Farage needs a new rallying call after Brexit, and I can see it being anti Islamic rhetoric.
Ultimately that extremist stuff that Wilders stuff comes out with is all classic populist stuff where the counter argument starts off with "I think you'll find it's more complicated than that"

Well as his previous project has nose-dived into the mud I guess he needs to do something else to get his face in the news and keep the f***wits sending him money. Didn't we do all this in the early 00s and a handful of BNP councillors?

Farage is heading over to the States to dip his hand in Trump's pocket.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.

Possibly, but Farage is a lot better at this whole thing than Nick Griffin ever was. And I suspect that social media has the power to turbocharge the movement somewhat.

He’s not going to find anything in there.

It’s hilarious when the Tories keep saying Labour don’t have a plan when they haven’t had any coherent direction since 2016 other than the highly successful “get Brexit done”. I know they keep telling us they have a plan and the plan is working. However, that is one of Baldrick’s plans.

The hand dipping more likely will be in the other direction.

Most likely to be lint. 🤣 I wouldn't underestimate the amount of money to be made in a U.S. election.
What was most telling was listening to a podcast where they said Trump thought Farage is a highly influential person. I suppose he successfully instigated Brexit, but that's a failure.

I wonder if that message came from the Farage camp or the trump one. I can see Farage being susceptible to Trump's flattery

Trump. Allegedly.

They are not going to raise NI or Tax so that must mean a VAT hike but with inflation heading up again that will be... inflationary.
No idea how that is going to work really
