He's either going to be found out on more staged things like this, or he's actually going to have to meet and listen to normal people. Either is cringeworthy, as he combines both disdain and petulance the moment his Twitter soundbites and lack of substance are challenged. I actually find it less cringeworthy listening to Truss, as she's certifiably dim/nuts, and doesn't know any better.

6 weeks of this. Can you believe it. Bahahaha. Hopefully it'll turn out the way it ought to. 6 weeks tour of humiliation, one after another.
"Mr Sunak, why after 14 years of tory rule are prisons so full, criminals are being released early and the rozzers are being told not to catch crooks?" bahahaha you f*cking numpty.

Labour support the smoking ban.

Even those figures were ahead of the forecast - I thought projections were 2-2.2%
I'd assumed he had been planning to announce today hoping for good inflation news, and then when it came in he decided to go for it anyway (when I first saw the announcement). But subsequently, given how surprised everyone seems to be, I am not so sure... Seems to be against the will of his own MPs, all commentators think it's daft etc.

I can't think of one off-the-cuff exchange I've seen of his where he says anything cogent or interesting - all he has is empty Twitter slogans, and if they aren't empty, they are lies. He just does not know how to deal with challenging questions, so responds with irritation.
Compare with Starmer responding to the Corbyn-worshipping Owen Jones's accusations... I think Starmer finds this quite easy, as his words come out of a deep and thought-through consideration of what he believes and how he's going to achieve his objectives. Of course, not everyone is going to agree with those objectives, and he's never going to ooze charisma, but it still sounds reasonably sincere and thoughtful.

Do you reckon Anus can get back his US Green Card to head back to Santa Monica or would he be deemed too HiRisk?

I doubt it will be high on their list of priorities though and suspect the law will never see the light of day.

So do a fair few smokers.
I'd guess it will end up being forgotten about

I was going to say it's the barrister in him, good at not getting rattled but then remembered Braverman is also a barrister although to be fair to her (which I don't like) she is also pretty calm when under attack for spouting bile.

The cycling bill dies too.
0 -
Bloody cyclists being allowed to go around killing people willy nilly with no consequences.
0 -
Yay, killing spree commute next week!

It is not a smoking ban.
Its a selling cigarettes and vapes ban to those born after 2009, aimed at punishing young people 😉

Hating youngsters by trying to stop them killing themselves the bastards

I don't think the final guidance was published - it was expected this summer, so probably gone. Not a bill, but statutory guidance.

Remind me, how much did Sunak's wealth increase by this year?
If I didn't know better, I'd almost think that they are trying to lose this election in the most spectacular way possible.

Six debates? Six!
Presume we're gonna get bored to death.

Maybe that's the plan... try to bore everyone in order to increase the likelihood of a low turnout and therefore greater likelihood of surprise results.

I heard Rory Stewart earlier (who is obviously no fan of the current Tory party), say he thought Labour would have a majority of around 69 seats. He is being generous to his old party, it is going to be well over 100.

Starting to wonder if it might be possible that the Tories poll rating (and then vote) actually goes down during the next 6 weeks.
0 -
No he didn’t - see up thread, he refused to pay up claiming the person that went voluntarily counted.

Typical to choose the no win option when it is petty change for him.
Now he either has to admit to welching on a bet or put his reputation on a guy who milked the system and disappeared.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
It's not out the question that their 20% polling is soft

Interesting contrast here.
It's so much easier to come across well when you're talking about something you're genuinely passionate about and aren't inhibited by needing votes
