Milan looks unphased by these hills

Peloton reduced... 60 maybe 70 riders

Pog can't leave alone!

Ah that’s gutting.

He may have actually been the difference between Narvaez getting caught or not.

Sprinting field is very competitive

Couldn’t have been more than 10m from the line, I was shouting at the TV

Definitely.
Great finish.

Needs to be careful he doesn’t start upsetting other teams. He always seems very popular but it’s easy to tread on toes.

He was working for his sprinter who came 3rd. Bit like Wiggins leading out Cav that time.

Alpecin not happy ...

Bigger risk is that he never ever seems to conserve energy.

This guy on the "interview the disappointed rider" beat missed his chance to rub it in properly to Groves. Should have been clearer how much his team controlled the day.

...although it probably wasn't made less fun for him that it was the guy who stopped him having the pink from day 1 that lost out.

Didn’t even know they had one there!

There’s no rider of the calibre of Froome to cause chaos. Ineos losing the two pronged option on day one didn’t help (and Thomas looks like he might go pop at any time unfortunately).

Sure, but Yates came in 20 minutes behind Rohan Dennis that day. He'd been setting himself up for a bad day all race.

Yeah .... everyone looked at Yates as not invulnerable....he looked harrowingly (word?) drawn after those efforts but the opposition kept the pressure on. This giro it feels like they have given up .
I suppose if a mad battle for the podium develops and he has a bad day

Can this forum do polls?

Johnathan Vaughters made an interesting point the other day that while there's probably no risk for Pogacar doing too much in terms of winning this Giro - he's just that good relative to the opposition - there might be a question of how wise it is to go deeper than he needs to given the Tour isn't far away
[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0 -
a) no
b) no

I'm not sure I buy this. Any serious Tour contender is putting in the hard training efforts now, as they prepare for July, probably at altitude.
Clearly you can manage fatigue levels better in training than you can in a race, so Pogacar might go deeper than he'd like on occasion, but given his lead now and the strength of his team, he can choose where and when he makes big efforts in the remaining two weeks.

The question is more whether he can take that mindset. He seems to find it hard not to follow an attack even when the person is no danger to him. He’s just hardwired to try to win every race he does.

So far this season, from 19 race days, the only time Pog has been outside the top 3 on the day has been 2x sprint stages in Catalunya and 4x sprint stages plus Strade Bianche stage at the Giro
Simply outstanding stats

Sounds like he needs to work on his bunch sprint 😂
