Grrr.... Just discovered that the last 7 months of illness and shitty weather and injury and shitty weather and other stuff with very little cycling has seen my waist line increase. So much so that my rarely worn tux ain't gonna fit no more. I've an event to attend next week. Local MossBros is outta stock until end of month! My fault for not checking earlier but covid had the better of me. Desperately doing online shopping for decent cut black suit. Pointless buying a tux again for the little use it gets now. Also discovered most of my shirts have 'shrunk' too. Went through whole wardrobe and now have a stack of stuff to go to charadee shops or recycling. In fact most of wardrobe has gone. Very distressing process.

I'm now a fat bastard! Very annoying!

I was in a fair bit of discomfort at the first black tie event I attended after COVID. I had to undo the button on the trousers as soon as I sat down and the jacket was snug too. I think my wardrobe must have got so humid everything shrunk - luckily it all fits again now.

  • The longer clothes are left unworn the smaller they get, known fact!

Mourning the loss of my first decent suit. I recall the trousers being a little loose and needing a belt. I checked the waist band size. 28. Oh how I laughed. BooHooHoo...sob.

I've just been looking for details of the Tour of Britain 2024

So, I go to the Tour-of-britain.com website to find that it's buttock clenchingly piss poor. At first sight you seem to presented with a map of stages, and scrolling down a bit further you find individual stage maps. But hold on, that doesn't look right? they don't tally!

I admit MISSED the first line of the text which says "The first details of the 20th edition of the modern race will be revealed in the coming weeks" and I see now that means they don't know yet.

However, what is the point of showing a map of stages which is dated 2016, followed by details of stages from the cancelled 2021?

It does my head in, businesses and organisations that have websites that need regular updates, but don't update them, (or even work out systems that will update the bits that need updates and leave the rest).

If you can't do updates, just have static pages with static info, and give proper contact info. Probably including a fax number, if that's the best you can manage in 2024.

Or pay someone to do it properly.

Not sure if CTT is any better than it used to be... haven't done a TT for ages, as the club TTs start 20 miles away from home.

The most common disease in that period was called 'Lockdown Ar$e'.

Some of the 'tag lines' people put in their LinkedIn profiles. Things like "the leading expert in..." and "the leading observer of...". I assume these are titles they are giving themselves, it takes an incredible level of arrogance to claim to be THE best at something. The worst one I saw was some guy who had "the hardest working person in the room". I think if I was his client or colleague I might take issue with that. Unsurprisingly all his posts showed him to be a complete moron. I need to work out how to stop seeing these people as they aren't direct connections but connections quite often comment on their posts and bring them into my feed. Actually, I hate LinkedIn in general but was told I had to have a profile in a previous job - maybe I should just delete it and risk not being approached for that 6 figure, WFH job with 50 days leave and a 25 hour working week when it comes up.

    Try following different people ;)

Joking aside, Linkedin is bad for that. FWIW, my feed is about 80% people showing off they were speaking on a panel at a conference, and the rest is a mixture of salespitch documents or announcing new roles/promotions.

They also don't seem to realise that there is a limited space in the tag line so I can never see enough to work out what they actually do (although I doubt I would care anyway).

    Inspiring proactive leader in.........

They really stand out in my feed, which is mostly pictures of large building and civil engineering projects (and the endless recruitment consultants)

    Sounds like the Trump.

He was always saying "no-one knows more about x than me". I'd have loved just once for someone to ask him a basic technical question about the particular subject.

    The latest Apple iPad advert.

Just amazing how poorly judged this is. A complete f*** you to their entire market.

I know they haven't put them up since 2017, but a 38% increase in one go still feels like a proper kick up the arse to cancel it over summer at least.

Noticed a lot of people on my Strava feed seem to be moving towards Rouvy, not sure how well they compare (I used Zwift for a bit but have never tried Rouvy).

Marketing a product aimed at creatives by showing pointless destruction is pretty perverse. Not to mention pretty insulting to the people they are trying to sell to. I assume they were going for 'all these creative tools are contained in this tiny tablet' but it comes across as 'you don't need your stupid piano because an iPad is better'.

    Eurovision.

Not the competition as such, which although I can't stand, each to their own.

No, it's the coverage being passed off as "news".

Can't we have a BBC Eurovision, Royal Family Strictly and Bake-off channel where all that shit goes for anyone who cares?

2nd most watched non-sporting programme after the coronation last year (globally). Eurovision is *massive*

Don't care. It has also grown arms and legs, and is now more like a stag weekend than a stag night.

Put it on its own channel for people without any taste.

It's on in place of Casualty and Traces, so it's not exactly booting high culture.
