Pogacar leaves the building.
Nobody can live with him.

The most predictable attack ever but hardly anyone can stay with him.

G & Ben O'Connor next on road.

G and O’Connor working to hold on but it’s already a decent gap.

Not getting as big a separation as expected....

Fair sized group reforming behind but steepest section to come

LOL
Pozzovivo isn’t too far off.
A different set of casualties today.
Not going to be many left standing after today

O’Connor’s wheels come off. The price for trying to go with Pog.

O’Connor showing what happens when you try to follow a Pog attack and gets dropped from the chasing group

Narvaez put in a decent effort but loses 2 minutes in the end.

Hatch, I think, asked what was going through O'Conners mind as he went backwards. "At least no one would of been dumb enough to of picked me for stage and GC in the BR Forums PTP game...." 😕

On RAI , I've lost count of the Pantani mentions..

I wouldnt be so sure. An attack like that 5km from the finish and he gains 27” only? This race isnt over- though he is very likely to win

He didn’t look like he was taking it easy, his face was showing far more effort than it usually does when he’s on the attack.

I agree. G very much looked like he is racing for second.

Which is what he should be doing. Look what happened to Ben O'Connor when he tried to hang with Pog. Race for second then if incident or accident intervenes you might end up in the Maglia Rosa

Indeed.

My feeling is that he may be a little under cooked deliberately and will get better in week 3, but you never know, and it is not a race to write off yet.

They're not delusional enough to believe Thomas can beat Pogacar in a straight race. By far their best chance of winning the Giro is to be in second place if something goes wrong with Pogacar. And if it doesn't they're still second, which is great for a rider that turns 38 this month. Uijtdebroeks was three years old when he turned pro.
I see a lot of Twitter DSs, who are unencumbered by reality, thinking they should take the fight to UAE (on Stage 2!) with some ropey tactics (e.g. send Ganna in the break and wear them down, as if that's going to work). They are not racing UAE, they're racing everyone else.
