Wasn't it a classic example of how there are two races each day; the race for the stage win and the race for the GC? You had three of the favourites for GC together, it's not surprising they stopped co-operating to chase down someone who is unlikely to feature on GC.

You don't generally see that in women's racing though. Bonus seconds tends to be too important
It looked more like 2023's Mens Strade Bianche to me. They thought they'd got it all sorted then started to look at each other instead. By the time they realised they hadn't gotten close enough Faulkner had gone again and they were left for the minor placing,

To be fair, she's 1 m 50 cms tall (4' 11" in old money) and probably shouldn't be riding a bike with 700c wheels, but I don't think UCI rules allow teams to run smaller sized wheels for their smaller riders.

Watching this today from about 40k the female commentator stated how exciting female racing was now. Well other than the last 5K or so there was more action in the live Post Office enquiry feed.
