Morning les mérinos
Nippy and grey. Forecast was blue skies all round. Liars, liars, liars. And to think I had a soft spot for Lizzie Rizzini.
Jobs innit. Prep to sell rental property.
First; coffee.

Morning
And so the rain continues but at least you can now see a few hundred yards. I think it’s more coffee then think of something to do.

A bit grey and damp here but no need to go outside for a bit. Tried a lowball offer on a watch and got told to take a hike - fair enough, it was a bit cheeky. Otherwise more worky stuff to do and coffee to be supped.

Morning all. Coolish ride in to work whilst hovering above the saddle as still sore from the reiver. Usual stuff at work. Need to buy some flowers for the OH as it's 30yrs to the day since our first date. She thinks I've forgotten. Weather not to bad her atm.

Happy 30th date day!

Haven’t worn a watch since last summer, as usual. Must get them out and give them a wind and shake.

Cheers, I'd have got less for murder just don't tell the OH

Did you do the 200, 130 or 65k?

I dunno, call yourself a watch geek? 😊

Racing at the weekend then way too many miles last night and this morning have left me feeling a little jaded.
bright side the current wife is down later as she has a meeting in Birmingham tomorrow

He thought it was watching as in voyeurism.
Afternoon folks, a reasonably cold and moist wobble in this morning. I'm not sure if I'm imagining things, but I seem to recall there was once a time when it was possible to ride a bike in shorts and a t shirt and get to ones destination nice and warm. There was this thing called son that gave a nice light and made it warmer. Have I just made all of that up?
Just spent 20 minutes on the phone to British Gas closing the account my sister was supposed to close a couple of years ago. Because I was dealing with moving and storing everything she was handling the utilities, or that's what she agreed to. Less than impressed to say the least. Over to the old dear's this evening for some gnocchi verdi and some cake, I say cake but am expecting tiramisu. My birthday celebrations are starting a couple of days early it seems.

Interviewed for staff this morning and it went well, hopefully we'll be able drop an idiot.
Dog sitting for the rest of the week so will take her out for a short jog later.
Bloody cold again though, ice on the ratan cover this morning!

130 as had an off and was to close to the 200 cut-off. Was a few sketchy bits with plenty of gravel rash or worse for a few. I know how cartoon characters feel when they hit immovable objects. Cold start but warmed up nicely.

Still a decent effort.

Indeed, and I'd say 130 of that is a fair bit harder than 130 on
smoothtarmac. Sorry, forgot about the state of the roads.0 -
Most of the Reiver is Gravel forest tracks or old muddy lanes and definitely not smooth tarmac. Bits of tarmac at the very start and end with bits around feedstops. Definitely not easy and lots of long climbs, very few short and punchy ones. You have to concentrate 100% otherwise you come a cropper. Not for the faint hearted especially at 30mph on gravel downhills. See guy kestevens youtube clip to get an idea of what it's like as he did it this year.

Sounds like fun. I've done London to Brighton off road a few times and it sounds like similar mix of surfaces. Usually on a hard tail MTB but once on the cross bike, that was best for most of it, but I did have a couple of unscheduled dismounts where it wasn't so good.

Good going Oxo. 130 on gravel must be the equivalent of 200 on the road in terms of effort.

I'd say it's worse given the pounding your body gets. You can't power out of the saddle to much because there long climbs or you lose traction. Over 7300 ft of upwards on the 130 and 9000 plus on the 200. Good fun, just need to find better gloves with decent size pad on the palm. Another thought is to get a new bike with suspension ?. Worth attempting at least once if your into gravel biking.

These get good reviews

I think he should go the whole hog:

I was only going to go as far as suggesting a hardtail MTB.

He needs a comfy saddle too:

My issue with bikeinn is they say have stuff but actually don't, then send something similar. Several times they've done this to me. 😪

I wonder if one of those old fashioned sprung tractor seats would be any better 🤔 🤭. I'm actually going to try one of those saddles with the centre cut out, another option is a nose noseless one but see how the first option goes.
