How do you view the forum?
I was just wondering which device people use to look at the forums.
I'm almost always on a desktop PC, and occasionally on a laptop. Never on a smartphone, I don't own one.
The reason I ask is that whenever I look at who is online, it's very often just me! So I was wondering if the forum is dying, because I'm sure there used to be lots of us!
The other explanation is that if lots of you are here via phone, it doesn't show when you are not actively looking at the page. On my PC a forum page is generally open as one of the tabs, so i assume I'm always seen as 'here'.
If you've all buggered off somewhere else, please let me know 😁

Combination of phone and laptop for me. There's usually a few people showing as online but not many. We have definitely lost quite a few following the last "upgrade".

Likewise.

Tablet or laptop. Phone if I'm on the train.
It's definitely quieter post forum upgrade - seems to have been declining gradually over for a fair few years and forum upgrades seems to speed that up. Anyone who has also been around for a while will also remember quite a few dropped off around the time of 'Modgate'.

You aren't always showing as online - I think it is misleading.

you can choose whether or not to show 'online now', so it's not a reliable indicator
but casting an eye over the other bits of the forum shows little activity
imo various factors, the cycling 'boom' in the uk is long past, fewer new people looking for info/help and less discretionary spending on bike stuff to ask about, the outages/issues around the last couple of software changes seemed to reduce volume each time, forums per se are probably less attractive vs. other platforms these days, lack of moderation probably don't help either
presumably it's still driving enough ad revenue to justify the upkeep

Re the cycling boom, I guessed that peak cycling hit around 2016.
At a sporting and enthusiast level it's been in slow decline since then. Hopefully it will remain as a general activity.

Mix of mobile and desktop.
Id noticed the forum would often say I was the only one online.

Almost always on desktop in the home office.
I log on in the morning and jump in and out throughout the day for entertainment purposes and to humbly brag about avocado consumption.

Do you have an avocado PB?

Interesting. I wonder why that doesn't work?
Re 'the cycling boom', I think that's probably right. I recall seeing the local chaingang in previous years, or if not the actual gang, people waiting at the side of the road to pick it up at various locations. I reaslised the other day that I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen them.
Likewise the 'Ride London' event. As far as I'm aware it's still possible to buy a place for this year! When I did those it was by ballot and places were hard to come by.
I must admit I hardly ride at all now. I was keen until covid but since I had that I've been apathetic, not just to cycling by the way, I can't even be arsed to think of what else I no longer do. :)

Not sure why you're asking me, but no. I'm not Gen-X which explains that. 😉
Edit - Possibly relating to my earlier point on another thread. I only ever have avocado in guacamole or in an Italian restaurant as part of a starter.

I think PB in that instance was personal best. It's not all about you, you know. Are you a millenial or something?

Indeed. If you're going to humbly brag about consumption I would hope there were some stats to back it up.

🤣🤣🤣
I know it's not about me, I need all the attention I can get. 😉 Then I'd shun it!

Mostly laptop, occasionally (Android) phone.
Or 'with a pinch of salt'.

I view the forum through bifocals or with a large font.
Therein lies the problem.

These days only ever on a phone.
