Can't see that they would be great on the protection side either. I assume they're much lighter than they look but giv the appearance that they drag your head into the ground if you do crash. It certainly feels like a far bigger issue than sock length.

I approve of the sock length rule on aesthetic grounds and it annoys me trivially that people have not understood that that is why the rule exists yet.
