Scant info. Carbon? Disks? Rim brakes? Road? MTB? Freehub?

    What?

Personally I'd go DT Swiss. Found them very reliable and good vfm

Prime at £675. Although I'd like to know more about the handbuilt spec.

The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

From those prices it sounds like you're looking at carbon, so my answer would be neither: better value can be had from the likes of Light Bicycle or Farsports.

Buy the Hunts and have them re-laced by a wheel builder for the cost of the tyres.

I had some lovely wheels built by Mark @ Spokesman, was a couple of years ago now, but IIRC they would have been £675, but with me speccing a lighter set of Tune hubs, it came in at £300 more.

IIRC, they weigh something crazy like 1200g - disc brake wheels too, and clincher.

They are lovely looking wheels, and you can discuss with any wheelbuilder presumably, what you are looking for, and what can be done to meet your budget.

These were the first set of handbuilts I have ever ordered (I have another pair that I bought 2nd hand) and I'd definitely consider it as a strong candidate ahead of buying off the shelf.

Prior to these, I must have bought at least half a dozen off the shelf wheelsets.

I suspect those rims are much better than Hunts. Just a suspicion though.

Sometimes if it's stuff you really care about and it occupies a lot of space in your brain, it's just really nice to treat yourself to a nice thing.

Hand built just adds that extra spice to that.
