Yes, it's really odd. Back to Costa and it says International arrivals on the wall in front and apparently they can come out either door. Questioned it with another chap waiting, he said his parents usually appear from the left, but his in-laws the right. Except for the last time when his parents appeared from the right as he was looking left.

The old dear appeared from the left having ditched her ride at passport control. Apparently they didn't believe she was a resident although she's completed all the right to remain stuff. Another woman stopped to ask if she was alright as she'd heard her telling them she's lived here over 50 years.

I think still leaving is the better option. If you don't, but wish you had, that ship will probably have sailed. Although there are other ships. If you go, and wish you hadn't, they will probably take you back.
