Longish run with a pal and the hounds, should be easy but the tail end of man flu and a 2am finish last night aren’t going to help.

not sure what’s planned today, but judging by the current wife this morning it will be an easy day bar shopping for cheese as we are hosting that part of New Year’s Eve in the village. Sure the pub will happen, I mean it is Saturday after all

Mrs. 666 is walking the grounds and junior is at the gym so I'm chilling for now. May get hair cut later. Also trying to decide when's good for a ride this weekend as it looks rather iffy over the next couple days.

Sungod's found an olde worlde long 's' on his keyboard. Why did we ever stop using it?

Sluggardliness this morning. Fresh air later, plus some slow cookery.

    Raining here.

Was about to head south to dryer pastures but it's also raining there contrary to the forecast last night.

Making a whirlygig looking thing instead.

I was expecting coarse and vulgar Chaucer quotes. Quite disappointed.

Ooh, a thorn. Not seen a thorn for a while.

I don't think anyone is going to be bottling wine in pints for the tiny "terminally insane" market. Maybe an ESW producer will do a small run and call it "Churchill's Tipple". 500ml and 375ml bottles are already fairly widely available.

Beer already comes in pints of course, though I'd love to see the absolute whirlwind of pointless fury over 68ml of warm flat beer if 500 ml was to become the standard measure. Didn't Orwell have an old codger moan about just that in 1984?

I figured you just had an iffy keyboard.

    Evening folks,

Mild pottering today, finished fettling of two velocipedes. We are going to have a winter with no sub zero temperatures in London as I have just gone for complete overkill and fitted studded tyres to the old MTB. After my off in January taking me out for so long I'm not taking any chances. Sounds like I'm riding on gravel when on tarmac.

Haven't worked out how to resize pictures on my phone yet, edit function allows you to crop, filter and rotate, but not make the file smaller.

    Evening

Another dreary winters day here. I felt a bit broken after yesterdays store demolition so I didn’t climb which would have been the plan otherwise. So a turbo session was had before watching crashes, broken rear mechs and dropped chains in the cyclocross.

Now binge watching Wurzel Gummidge on Mrs W’’s insistence but she’s got a bad back so I’ll go with flow.

Completely unnecessary picture of a variety of QR spindles with nuts, at least I hope there is. Thanks SG

V's spares box for the win. Though I expect sg's, oxo's and Pinno's are also well equipped.

    Anyone been watching Slow Horses?

Bit of a walk with the dog up and down and round Minehead in the gusty gusty and the rainy rain. Has it stopped raining since October? Not sure it has. Burning unnecessary firewood to make it feel better.

  • Slow Horses is one of Mr WS’s favourites. It’s excellent.
