Bike hooks/storage

This is what I mainly use, have about 8 of these setup at differing heights to allow to mesh the bikes more efficiently.
You can also help this by being willing to hang by front or rear wheel etc etc.

It's a fairly generic design, they are available at vastly different prices all over the place, mine were of this design, but a cheapy multipack off of an ebay seller iirc.

I use Hornit Clugs, which hold the bike vertical (and take up no space when not in use).

Have them set about 30 cm apart, hook one bike from the front wheel, next from the back, allows me to mount 8 bikes on my wall with a chain running through for security.




I had the Planet X ones at my old house and they do OK, but this does the same job and is cheaper and neater.

Looks good, though I personally wouldn't be confident in hanging my fairly heavy mtb off of just the one screw fixing.

The style pictured early on has up to 4 fixing points, and I have no doubts when hanging a weighty mtb off one when it's not resting it's bulk on the floor.

If you're able to hang bikes off those screwed into the wooden part I'm well impressed.

*Theoretically the px ones in a 3 pack work out at £1 each, plus postage though.

Inspired by the bike parking facilities in Majorca hotels.

Hooks are rated to 10kg (but will have leeway) so probably be OK with a mountain bike as long as it isn't an e-bike. It is fine with my daughters hardtail, my wifes steel frame Pendleton with rack makes it groan though!

I was going to say - the pull-out force required for screw hooks like that is surprisingly high, assuming the wood is sound.

I'm inspired by this idea. Does hanging the bike by the rim like that, especially for extended periods, not cause any issue with the wheel at the point it connects to the hook? I can't imagine it would but just a thought before I get my drill out.....

Has been fine for me for all sorts of bikes - would steer well clear of hanging deep rim wheels that have a carbon fairing as I can't imagine that either being a good pairing, and or possibly being a bit of a squeeze to get it inside the hook.

As oxoman said ensure the hooks are suitably coated, and not to rest the weight all on one spoke where the hook ends up sitting.
