Anyone done the Walney to Whitby route of the Coast to Coast? If so, how hilly/hard is it? After a year of pre-menopausal madness (don't ask) I've got my bike mojo back and am looking to stretch my legs this summer, plus I've got a mileage target to hit.
Commute: Chadderton - Sportcity

  • I've not done that route, but I'm originally from North Yorkshire, so I feel I can comment. I would expect it to be tough in places, especially the bit between Kirkby Stephen and Tan Hill, but the scenery around the route is amazing. Also, as you're route would take you through Great Ayton, you can stop at Petch's butcher and have their amazing pork pies. That alone makes the route worthwhile, IMO. Whitby is a great place to finish also, a real gem of a place.

    Good luck!
