Signed up to do "the crossing" in July which is a 200mile 'off road' coast to coast ride from Whitehaven to Scarborough.

I'm facing a bike choice dilemma as it appears there's quite a bit of road riding and tricky to tell how technical / extreme the off road parts are. Here's my options:

1) Use my 2015 Canyon Nerve (120mm 27.5 full sus)
2) Use my (soon to be acquired) 2018 Whyte S150C RS (150mm 29er full sus)
3) Pick up a cheap hardtail frame and use the parts from the Nerve - any frame suggestions very welcome
4) Get a 'gravel' bike (could also use for other training and the occasional leisurely triathlon)

Any input from anybody who has done the crossing or knows a bit about it would be much appreciated!

I would say the most bike you need is a hardtail, everything I've seen about this it would be my gravel I'd take.
Now where's that "Get Out of Crash Free Card"
