Bike Trailer / Axle Adapter?

Hi all,

Going away to the Peak District with Mrs and two little’uns next week.

Bought this kiddie bike trailer;

I kinda half expected it, but it doesn’t fit into the axle at the back of my bike.

I have a 2016 Whyte T129-S with a 12mm maxle.

Other than spending £50 on one of these adapters;

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Also if I do go down the route of buying an adapter, which size do I need?

    I assume the trailer attaches to the rear axle.

    You can get longer boost maxle, 148 mm vs 142 and may be able to use 6mm extra length but be careful with the clamp rubbing against the frame. Ideally youd want a bearing on the axle that is part of the clamp, I doubt there is anything off the shelf.

    Unless you can make something in the time you have available, the £50 adapter looks like the only solution.

    Yeah no worries cheers, I thought as much.

    There appear to be three sizes...

    12x1.0
    12x1.5
    12x1.75

    Don’t suppose you have any idea which size!?

    The second figure is the thread pitch.

    You would either have to Google or measure it, count 5 to 10 threads, measure distance and divide by the number of threads.

    AFAIK that won't fit the frame, it is possible to concert 12mm axle to standard QR but not other way round.

    An option may be to hire a bike, 50 quid should cover a fair bit of the cost but kinda defeats the object, we buy bike to ride not to have to hire one.

    Cheers for the replies fellas.

    I’ve spent £150 or so quid on fixing up the Mrs bike and £200 on this trailer, another £50 isn’t such a big drama in the grand scheme.

    I think I’ll just order all three sizes and return the two I don’t need!
