Doing a mtb project, old Kinesis xc frame, removed the old headset, no markings on the cups, I.E Brand or model.

I used the digital verniers and measured 33,6mm upper/lower frame Inside Diameter.

The older cups measure 34mm upper/lower, I.E Outside Diameter.

Can I use EC34 or is that different to just "34mm headset"?

I couldn't find that many, at least not compared to 44mm which is what I'm used to, don't want to spend too much £25 max really.

Only ones I've found are

Acor, cheap and looks nasty.
Celts Port Ahead, never heard of them.
Brave Machine "Little Monster" never heard of this company and it's in gold. . .
Brand-X - 34EESS - Looks okay but not heard much about them.
Ritchey Logic V2. - looks okay but not sure it's for MTB.
mr-ride FSA ORBIT MX - Looks nice but has to be posted from Taiwan.

Any help would be appreciated.

    It's just a bog standard 1 1/8" external headset. There's millions of them. http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/head ... t=pricelow

The BX 34EESS is probably fine as long as you go for the sealed bearing version, their stuff is normally pretty good for the money.

if you can go for a sealed cartridge bearing headset to lengthen the servicing times much better than those loose bearing type headsets.

brand-x I think are Chain reaction cycles own brand of stuff so should be good quality.
