eTAP Dongle

Good day all.
I am new here so please be gentle,

I have fitted eTAP upgrade to my bike and love it. But I thought I would plug the dongle into my lap top to see what happens....... and I found that it does nothing. Should it? Or will it only do something when there is a software upgrade available?

    so far there's been none, if sram ever issue one then presumably it'll include drivers etc. to make use of the dongle

    by which time i wonder how many will have been lost!
    my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
