Elite Turbo Muin - getting smart data etc

Hello,

I am totally new to indoor training and don't understand ANT+ from Bluetooth, WiFi etc. So bear with me for asking silly questions!

I have just been very kindly given an Elite Turbo Muin as a gift. Direct drive, nice and quiet and I have a Shimano spline/Campagnolo cassette on order. All good so far, this much I'm comfortable with.

I know it's not a "smart" trainer, but as far as I understand I can buy a little box - Elite Misuro B - which sits next to the fly-wheel in a little compartment on the outside of the trainer. This will let me use Elite's training app.

Three questions to start with (there may be more!).

1. Does the Misuro B box talk to my phone (Sony Xperia Z3 Compact)? Via Bluetooth? Via ANT+
2. Does the Misuro B box talk to my Garmin 800? Via ANT+, I guess, if anything?
3. Are any other apps available to me via this interface?

Thanks in advance, for any help and advice!
Ben

I imagine you'll now be able to work this out for yourself but I have the turbomuin and smart sensor.

It'll definitely talk to your phone - your phone supports Ant+ - not sure about bluetooth, although that ought work too.

It'll definitely talk to your garmin - if you want to train to numbers, it'll give you a power number, which although not accurate like a true powermeter will at least be consistent across sessions (and different training apps), and because the muin is direct drive won't be affected by turbo trainer tyre pressure/tension adjustment.

If you have a half decent laptop/computer/ipad you can try out zwift. I bought one of these Ant+ dongles which works a treat - https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00T7C2DWA - strictly speaking though, if it will talk to your phone via bluetooth then I believe you can use your phone to link to zwift without the dongle.

If you are zwifting, then you'll have to use your imagination a bit and change to a harder gear to simulate going uphill, but I've never found that an issue!

If you don't have means to use zwift, worth a look at trainerroad which will work on your phone.

Don't forget to set the smart trainer to the correct trainer type when you get it - slide off the battery cover and press the button until it flashes the correct number of times.

    Hi Timothy,

Yes, I am slowly understanding what I need and what everything means. And all your input is a great help. Thank you very much!

I presume there is a guide to doing the last bit you mention - setting the sensor to show the correct number of flashes?

Yeah, it comes with a big bit of paper with a list of trainers so you can identify your model and the number of presses.

There is a guide on youtube here:

They've got quite a good selection of help videos there actually, covering connecting up to garmin etc so worth a browse.
