Bike Computer "Over Speed Reminder"?

I recently bought a bike computer (cheap Chinese generic brand), which seems to work pretty well, and has a ton of features. One of these is a so-called "ever speed reminder" that, apparently, "When SPD exceeds 20 KPH, SPD will be flashing until it is less than 20 KPH". So far I've been unable to work out exactly what purpose this function serves, and Googling it has turned up zero.
I have gone faster than 20 kph (I have mine set to MPH), but as far as I could see nothing on the display changed. And I'm what sure why you need a warning for such a speed?
Any ideas what it's for?

So you don't get busted speeding in a school zone?
But 20 kph is only about 12 and a half mph.0 -
If you can change the setting.. Is it to prevent you going too fast on long rides.. Like to pace yourself?0

Maybe it's for electric bikes and 'a market somewhere' has a 20kph limit?

Leave the ridiculous imperial measurements to the Americans. It's about time we dropped miles in favour of kilometres.
The metric system and cheese are the only two good things to come out of France, we should make the most of them.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

The first evidence of cheese making is from Poland.
The metric system was first proposed by an Englishman, how could you think anything good could come from France?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
