Reconverting a single speed back to multiple gears

Hi, I hope I'm in the right place.

Normally I wouldn't even think about trying to add gears to a single speed bike.
However, I've seen an old Dawes Giro that was converted to a single speed. Would it be possible to convert it back again? I can't do single speed because of disability issues, but I really like this bike.

Apologies if this is the stupidest question you've ever heard. Please tell me if this is crazy talk.

    That's most of a bike...

    It depends on how it was made a ss. If a spacer kit was used then take it off and fit a cassette. But then as above.

    Depends on how much you want to spend - I can do you most of the above list dirt cheap but working perfectly if you want.

    Bu the rest at CRC or similar in the sales and jobs a fish.

    How many gears do you want/need - could you get away with a single ring at the front and gears at the back?
