Athena 11 with Shimano 10 derailer amd sprocket

So my plan was to upgrade to 11 speed Athena with my christmas pennies. Sadly life got in the way and so did a stupidly expensive new exhaust and now I can't afford a new set.
I've read up about shimergo and am a little confused.
Can I get a set of Athena ergo shifters, attach a shiftmate do-hickey md fix it to a do-hicky shiftmate 10 speed derailier amd sprocket? I notice Ugo had just popped some 11 speed on 9 speed set up.
Am I missing something?

Athena 11 shifters + Shimano 9-10 road derailleur will give you a perfect shift on a 9 speed Shimano cassette, but not a 10 one. You will have a couple of empty clicks at the end, but you will probably never notice them anyway.
