Sorry to hear today that Olivier Kaisen is retiring following discovery of heart valve problems (he actually announced it yesterday). Apparently an irregular heartbeat was dicovered during tests in October, but not considered serious enough to prevent him continuing cycling. But when he pulled up recently in the Tour Down Under, new medical checks found the valve problems and he was advised to stop riding professionally.

During his brief career, he was one of those riders who often livened up a tour by being one of a small break which frequently stayed long away. The 2012 Giro in particular, almost every break included the duo Kaisen and Keizer.
