Merry Christmas all, I am looking at some new wheels, does any one have any experience of either of these or any other around the £140.00 mark, for heavy XC duty not DH

I've got the SS Tech 3 EVO XC build & i can't fault it, excellent build quality, components are nicely finished and so far they hold up to my lardy arse.

So i would go for one of the EVO builds.

Mavic Crossrides are great as well - I got them for £120 from Bike-Discount.

    Road - Dolan Preffisio
    MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.

Couldn't say on the superstar wheelsets but Crossrides are bullet proof... I've got a 10yr old (v-brake) pair, they've never needed truing & bearings are all good
  • Superstar tech 2 wheel set are reduced to £100 saving of £50 as long as you like gunmetal
pity those who don't drink, the way they feel when they wake is the best they will feel all day

Superstar build quality can be a bit variable- I've seen some that were perfect, as good as you could want. And some that you'd think were someone's first attempt. But at this price you can afford to gamble, a pro rebuild for both ends will still make them good value tbh.

Bought a set of new Halo T2s off ebay for £130. Had them on my SS for a while and they are sturdy enough for XC use. Come in a range of colours; white, black, ano Red and ano Blue.

Thanks all for the input I went for the superstar XC wheels in the end on the offer, my mate has some the same and is very pleased with them, I have used the saving to get some drive train bits for my bike. wheels should be here today, :-)
