Hi I'm looking to switch my drivetrain from 3x10 to 2x10 with a bash guard. as i don't use the outer ring much, if at all, and occasionally get the odd tag over logs and stuff. so with most of the world going over to 2x10 and 1x10/11 i thought i'd give it a go if it's a cheap conversion.

I have SLX shifters, SLX front derailleur standard hollow tech cranks.

Obviously i need to lose the outer ring but, do i need to change my shifter or can it be adapted to not use the big ring setting?

Cheers for any advise.

I think there's an article somewhere on this site about this.

Basically, remove ring fit bash with correct bolts, adjust front mech

If you set the shifter for granny and middle then you can just adjust the limit screws to stop it shifting past this. I currently run 3sp deore shifter on 2sp SLX mech
