Has anyone else seen the newest Halfords ad?

Its quite funny. Its portrayal of us commuters is mildly insulting, but 'tribe' is equally insulted, so thats OK in my book.

It has pretty much nailed SCR.
FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future
FCN 4: Planet X Schmaffenschmack 2- workhorse
FCN 9: B Twin Vitamin - winter commuter/loan bike for trainees

Tongue in cheek, I like it.

    The beardies were my favourite.

Liked this comment: "Brilliant advert! Now if only Halfords would pay as much attention to NOT PUTTING THE FORKS ON BACKWARDS when they sell a bike to someone, the world would be a better place" :D
"Mummy Mummy, when will I grow up?"
"Don't be silly son, you're a bloke, you'll never grow up"

So that's the advert that they were filming on Box hill. Yeah, quite like that too.

Agreed, liked it. Fun and light hearted!

That gets my seal of approval.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Like it. Their new chief exec seems to be driving some actual change too - they were the support crew on my JOGLE and were actually great.

Will take time to make sure the in store experience is that way and then their reputation will change but this is definitely the right direction!
What do you mean you think 64cm is a big frame?

It basically addresses the issue that there cycling appeals to so many different "tribes" and that it's hard to market to each and every 1 in 1 ad... Pretty clever

I liked the fact that at least there was one group feeling the wind in their hair. OK, so it means I'm supposed to be a woman with a Pashley and shopping basket, but hey ho! :D

Edit: Oh, just watched the longer version on YouTube and I see there's a bunch of 70s beardies with the wind in their hair too. Upgrading from 7/10 to 8/10. :D

Not really sure about the arm waving. I mean, I suppose that was supposed to be the "I'm slowing down or stopping" signal, but honestly I've never seen anyone do that since I did my cycling proficiency test in the late 70s. =)

For all I know, it might not even be taught any more.

    Overall, 8/10.

Does this mean no 'Tour de Francis' ads this year? I bloody well hope so :-)
