What type of rider are you?

I'm on the come back trail. I used to only ride Time Trials but I might try some road racing later in the year. I don't have a problem with the training insofar as I know what I need to do to go fast, (I know pedal fast in a big gear). But you know what I mean it's the sort of training I know that is required.

It's easy on paper but for an old'un the recovery time is longer, making the whole getting fit process more drawn out.

The other thing is the bike. These days a TT bike has a carbon everything, aero wheels etc. etc. That's a lot of dough to fork out. At the moment it's a case of second hand gear until I know if I've got any speed in my legs that is worthy of the investment.

I belong to a club but do all my riding on my own.

I'm really fast............ as long as the gradient is negative !

I ride because I enjoy being on my bike. I'm not into racing and I'm not into training to get fit or lose weight, I just ride because I like it. I can't remember a time in my 41 years when I've not had a bike.

What kind of rider am I?

    Take it away Michelle..... 8)

If you really want to know
What I want in a guy...
Well, I'm lookin' for a dream on a mean machine
    With hell in his eyes.
I want a devil in skin tight lycra,
And he's gonna be wild as the wind.
And one fine night, I'll be holdin' on tight...
To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
    If he's cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
    Whhoa ohhhh
    If it takes forever,
    Then I'll wait forever.
    No ordinary boy,
No ordinary boy is gonna do.
    I want a rider that's cool.
That's the way it's gonna be,
And that's the way that I feel.
I want a whole lot more than the boy next door,
    I want hell on wheels.
Just give me a black bike,
With a man growin' out of the seat.
And move aside, cause I'm gonna ride...
    (Chorus)
I don't want no ordinary guys,
    Comin' on strong to me.
They don't know what I'm lookin' for,
They don't know what I need.
They're gonna know when he gets here,
Cause the ground will be shakin'.
I'll do anything to let him know,
That I'm his, his for the takin'.
    I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
    I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
    I want a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.
    I need a C-O-O-L R-I-D-E-R.
    (Repeat)

Same here. I just love being out on my bike, wind in my face and seeing the countryside. Except in my case I've been cycling for 48 years, since getting m first bike when I was 7 back in 1965

Yeah, but TTing is possible on any low pro bike, position is the main thing isn't it... and in the end you're only racing yourself unless you're right up there in the opens everytime, when the few seconds might make a difference between first and third.

Enjoy it, a mate bought a Specialised Transition frame today for £180 and its pretty much like new, ok, its not carbon and is from 2007, but its actually lighter than one of his carbon TT bikes.

I started cycling (again) in Oct2011 after 30+ years absence.

I've got past the puffing and panting stage but still finding it hard work sometimes. I get through water at about the same rate as cars do petrol  I'm trying to get better/fitter and have more endurance, but I think I could be running for a train that's already left the station.

The older I get, the better I was.
